Title: gayPod Touch tech query
Post by: Turk on 26 December 2010, 22:48:07
My 11 year old niece had an iPod Touch for crimbo. She has downloaded an app, but the icon remains 'greyed out' and has the word 'waiting' where the app name should be.  It cannot be opened or deleted. Tried re-starting, de-authorising iTunes etc but no joy.

Any suggestions ?

(iPhones, iPods, iPads, iTunes.....iDiots !!! >:()

still got WiFi signal? Should finish installing.

Try a hard-reboot (press and hold button on top & home button) wait until you see the Apple logo

Cheers, but tried that one.
Strong Wi-Fi signal, so tried re-installing it, but Apps Store is showing it is already 'installed'.

tried removing the app and re-installing?

Hold your finger on an icon until they wobble, then click the little (-) sign, remove the app, then reinstall via the App Store..

Tried that too. It wobbles like a good 'un but no '+, -,' or anything that will allow removal.  Just greyed or faded out icon with 'waiting' underneath it.
App is from the Apple 'Apps Store' and is something called 'Stupid test'.   (It's certainly testing me !  ::))

It's an iPod Touch 4G (with camera). Pretty much an iPhone, but it can't make/receive phone calls. (So yep, basically it's an iPhone. ;D ;D)

If you mean creat a junk folder on iTunes, the app is not showing on iTunes, only on the iPod itself.

Have to say had mine almost a year, plugged it into the computer to upload some new tunes (after almost a year), and its completely fubarred and does'nt work now, does'nt even come on when connected to the Bose, Apple site said something was corrupted, tried fixing it but can't, does'nt even show up on devices, well pee'd off :-[

was working fine before I plugged it into the pc.

Spoke to my niece earlier and the offending icon has now disappeared.

Thanks for the removal suggestions.  :y
