...I'm getting my rather rubbish bin emptied for the first time since 7th December tomorrow.
Such a little thing will make me so happy.
Hope people don't think I'm a Human Sleeping Tablet!

I hope you give the dustmen their Christmas box TB ;D ;D ;)

Nope, they claim they won't, as I've had a long chat with the director of the local council...

I don't think the office knobs would dare not collect it...

I bet they spill some whilst loading it & then bugger off without attempting to pick it up! ;)

No, they have said they won't clear up the inevitable mess caused by living on the edge of town and having rubbish piled up for a month. Still, its kept the foxes nice and fat, so the dogs can chase them down quicker... :-X

They've been pretty good round my way - didn't miss a beat this year, and last Friday when they came to collect the recycling bin (usual day is a Thursday, the b/hol bumped it a day) and I'd
forgotten to put the bin outnot woken up in time to put the bin out, they even came to my door to collect - and then return - the bin..

The plan our council have if collection falls on a bank holiday, or they miss it due to weather, is to bury head in the sand, and hope nobody notices. Morons. Then they have the nerve to suggest that this is normal practice across virtually all councils across England. Retarded, bullshitting morons.

i wonder if you dont pay the council tax for 4 or 5 weeks "because of the weather" they'd be full of understanding and patience ;D ;D

Tell us how you really feel ;)
Oh and I did forget to mention - my green (non-recycling) bin (ok, one of them, and you are only supposed to have one .. but they're firkin tiny!) did go missing right before Christmas .. either nicked or stuck to the back of a wagon, I suppose.
So it's not all perfect ;)

No problem with that for me, council just make collections on bank holidays. Guess it saves mucking the collection rounds up.
So, at least one council that doesn't conform to the above statement ;D.

And thats just the binmen.
When ours were off the road due to the snow they refused to go out and fling grit about because they haven't been shown how to use a SHOVEL :o :o
These F****'* are getting £26k plus a year for hooking a bin on a lorry. >:(

Crikey, did you see the size of that bugger in the newspapers that was caught after munching on the family cat? 4bloody feet long!!!! :o :D

we have 4 big bins for the flats and everyone else has chucked all there bags and shite next to them over xmas, the dustman wont take anything not in the bins.

Same here too. Normal collection day is a Monday and they NEVER miss one collection.

I sympathise with you .
Over here we have no council bin collection having to take all our rubbish to the local compacting tip.
I had left it a little too long before Xmas so loaded up the van early on 24th and went down . Bloody place was shut >:(
Back home unloaded the van again and then went through it all again on 29th to find it shut again .
A note pinned to the gate said it would be open for three hours on 30th and then closed again until 4th.
The van was a little " rich " the following day after I left it loaded ..... ::)
I'd like to know what Cretin sanctioned the closure the only tip for nearly 25 miles for nearly two weeks .
The line of vehicles on the day it was opened was enormous all filled to the brim with rotting Turkey carcases and xmas wrapping .
It is a credit to the locals that not one bag of rubbish was abandoned at the gates for the council operatives to pick up.
One thing that has really made me angry is that a rather large and content rat jumped out of the bin
when I was empying it ,which has given me my first 2011 job tomorrow .
It could only happen in SW Ireland .........

after having the grass repaired a two weeks earlier...
i think the drivers festive mood was well and truly over and really couldnt be bothered to "wheel" the wheelie bin too far to the truck.
i dont think hes mood will improve much once the piccies are sent..

nearly 3 weeks here since theyve been, its a bloody disgrace, people have started tipping on the local field cos the bags are overflowing in the streets. what exactly is their excuse this time, slippy road, bit of mud. leaves or some other lame excuse?????
-
This post got me thinking. our local authority made such a cock up of dealing with the snow recently it made the national news. No gritting or pavement clearing for over a week traders up in arms loosing business the week before Christmas, so if the street sweepers couldn't do there job because of the snow just what the hell were they doing? probably sat on there arses in the refs room drinking tea and eating biscuits :( It's about time that they learned to do tasks other than those deemed by their contracts of employment and try to help to get this f*cking country back on it's feet again >:(

By mutual consent Mrs Andy B left working at the local council refuse/recycling dept for Bury last year so had worked with some of Bury's finest militant binners. Some were caught red handed on film making 'private deals' with local businesses for their own gain, but got off due to the exact procedure by management not being carried out to the letter. However in the next week or two will be served with a change of contract due to be sent out to tender with the likes of Viridor etc. I suspect they won't know what's hit them. They've been to used to the tail wagging the dog which will now surely end.

i got to admit after reading that lot i think the bin men need to watch out i can just picture mr TB plotted up with a rifle just in case they miss him out ;D ;D
-
can't fault Bromley, they missed the first Tuesday dues to the snow, the next Tuesday they were due to pickup paper, food waste and refuse they also collected the recyclable from the week before - which for almost all my neighbours involved entering gardens to empty the containers
-
I'm in suspenders here. Did the binmen come, or not? :-?

ours havent, havent seen one here for weeks now
-
mine haven't been missed at all
-
our bins have been emptied on time with no probs at all....mind ya the lads who empty our bins are local lads so i suppose they would get a right load of stick if they didnt do the job proper....
-
I have no issue with the crews doing the work. OK, they wouldn't go out of their way if bin wasn't put at roadside, but the do the job they are paid to do.
Its the rather shiney butts in the warm offices that get up my nose. They claim to 'plan' these collections, but struggle to remove their thumbs from said butts. These are the people who should be kicked out.
Bins emptied this morning :y
