Title: MOT time for the barge!
Post by: Welung666 on 08 January 2011, 11:59:14
Since I picked this barge (V plate '99 Elite estate) up I've not touched it mechanically apart from twice having to empty water out of pots 4 & 6 due to the skuttle seal joint leaking (now sealed with Vx black goo). I knew it has a weep on both cam covers and one of the zorst manifold gaskets needs changing due to a blow when cold. The MOT ran out just before Xmas so parked it on the drive and left it. Decided yeaterday to book it in to see what it would fail on with the view if it fails I'll break it. So in it went this morning....

It failed on:-

A 1" hole in the front inner flitch just above the chassis rail.

Advisory for:-

Light misting of oil on OSR shock absorber.

Not a bad result I thought, A bit of welding this afternoon and back in for a re-test Monday :y

Result,

Should have taken it to my Uk MOT tester. He didn't notice one of my rear shockers was totally U/S. I wonder how many one inch holes I have (so as to speak)

20 minutes welding and it's done ready for re-test. Just got to add another coat of chassis black to the plate before I go.
