I have been losing interest lately in the beautiful game. The money that is involved is obscene and the antics of the 'stars' disgraceful. I, of course, contribute to this state of affairs by paying for sky sports. I almost cut my nose off to spite my face by cancelling it last month.
When Liverpool sacked Rafa Benitez, they had to honour his contract, which cost them £6 million. Today, I hear, that Roy Hodgson, after a few months in the job, has walked away with £7 million.

I don't nor have ever really followed football. I've seen Bury play at Gigg Lane a hand full of time & been to Old Trafford for my lad's sake a couple of times, IMO football has forgotten about the diehard fans who would like to attend as many games as possible, shown in part with the cost of watching a game. It's too much of a buisiness now to pay £1000's / week to the players.

I find it really amusing, as expected of a toffee!
I get your point though and was pondering yesterday how players can complain of a lack of team / manager morale being responsible for poor performance. You can bet your ass I would give my all for 90 mins in every game for £150,000 a week!
My boss would not tolerate whinging and neither do I .
I think you may turn us over on sunday though

I wonder how much money would those shitballers earn if they had a normal job :D ;D
and how women would behave to them :P :P

one of the reasons why i wouldnt support a premiershit team they are all money focused whereas lower leagues are more football focused either way though i love football i have all the sports channels and i pay to go to the games and that is the way it will always be :y :y

At 25years of age you could not stop me going to park lane every week there was a match, but then! football seemed to be on every channel, its on every news broadcast in short its just forced down your throat!!so i gav e up fllowing it 20years ago apart from the world cup, now when its on i find loads of jobs i need to do ;Dwaste of time watching it now pansys! frightened to tackle, if they lose the ball they give up,useless articles all of them

Ah yes, "that time of year" when Esty realises the best team in the world are going to win bog all, arrives earlier and earlier each season for Liverpool it seems, and Esty is depressed as usual, where's the news?
It's not football Steve, it's Liverpool that's upsetting you! If they where top of the league you'd be your usual self, and no mistake!
However, that aside, and as a life long United fan, its a shame, I miss the rivalry, the competition, no point in a race if, during the premiership years, nobody else is running. Rich owners and oil barrons are no good for the game, so over all I would have to agree with you, tbh. :'(

millionaire lanky streak of piss England and Spurs striker Peter Crouch was once asked in an interview what he would be if he wasn't a footballer?

I don't know why people get so upset. They buy the Sky subscription, the season tickets, the merchandise and the papers. They fund the circus.
As for the wages players earn, good luck to them. They may be uneducated halfwits that otherwise would have been raised in a youth offenders home, but when I look at some of the players I used to watch when I was a kid struggle to survive, or unable to walk because they're on a waiting list for a new knee, then I don't have any grudges about some kid earning thousands each week. If they blow it all then tough luck, they had their chance. Besides, there always was huge amounts of money in football. The difference was the club owners used to cream large amounts off to fund their lifestyles. And that was far worse in my opinion.

Well said, matey!
As Mr. Millwall said, football in the lower leagues is more like the proper game - being a die-hard Leeds United fan, I have to say we are playing some wonderful football at the moment, and if we get promoted (gonna be this or next season, surely), then I hope Simon Grayson and the squad staff can keep the team playing this attractive football, no matter who comes into the team and who we play.
-
Well Leeds are looking good for it today.Must say i've always liked Simon Grayson. He had some rough times over the last 2/3 years when Leeds just missed out.Like in the playoffs to Millwall and Grayson was very dignified in defeat despite the pressure on him.
That division is up for grabs this year i recon, maybe only QPR showing any consistency and even they went through a phase when they could only draw.

:P Well, I can recognise it`s cadence as a language; but it`s too far removed from my tongue for me to be able to even get the gist!;D

Yep, talk about easy money!! >:( Sven Goran Eriksson has made a profession of it - he did it with England and then several English football clubs. I think he's now an expert in being a successful failure. ::)

So did Esty turn blue over the weekend? Drew didn't they? ;D :-X

Tut, ya big nonce.
You need to take the Barmy Army approach to sport. Have a party win loose or draw. If they win even better.
Don't go sulking off to tha gallows just koz they lost a few games, ya big girl!
I tell ya what, I wish football was the most important thing in my life.
Although I have to agree with you on something. They are shit aren't they? :P

ive got nothing against footballists earning lots of money. theyre the best at what they do (most of them) and theyre taking advantage of it.
id do the same.
one thing i cant stand though is when they go to these orphanages and stuff like that knowing that one weeks wages could sort them all out for the future.

I lost interest and faith in football when George Best did. :( ::)
