A friend's granddad had one of those (about the same time I had the Allegro) - as I recall it had the handle from a kitchen tap where it ought to have an ignition barrel ;D

I had one of them as a temporary 2nd car... RWD as well IIRC :-/
First car was an A Reg Brown Metro 1000. Bought it for £50, spent £100 getting it prepped for it's MOT, ran it for 6 months putting 35k on it and spent nothing on maintenance :o at which point it threw a wobbled and snapped the crank shaft at 5am on a Thursday morning. Needed wheels to go away for the weekend (was 18 and on a promise 160 miles away ::)) so bought the Peugeot, taxed and tested for £125.
Only kept it about 3 weeks as it kept overheating (HG) and lost confidence as it had remoulds fitted and I had a blow out at 70+ so replaced it with a 1.3 Metro HLE

1952 Morris Minor.
918cc sidevalve engine, vaccum wipers, semaphore indicators, no radio, no heater.
Cost me £50 - 10 weeks wages, petrol was 4s 11 a gallon (25p a gallon or 5.5p /litre ..
Kept it for 6 months then sold it for £65 and bought a 1954 Ford Consol for £60 .... simply becuse I "prefered" the bench front seat, column gear change, and the heater ... :) (I leave you to ponder why ...... :) )
-

After six years of Japanese's finest (motorbikes that is) my first car was a Triumph 1500 fwd - Awful. The supension was sagging and it ate the rubber doughnuts on the drive shafts. It took me two days to change the first two but after that I could do both sides in about 3 hours. After six months the engine went West and after getting an exchange unit the gearbox then went East and fell apart. One year in the car had cost me £500 to buy + another £900 in repairs. I cut my losses at this point and went back to a pushbike until I could afford another two wheeler from the land of the rising sun. It was another two years before I went back to cars - when I could afford something half decent.

After my XL100 I had my 250 Super dream stolen >:( I then got a mk3 cortina 1600 in beige but remodelled the front end around a lamp post in the snow. :(

My first car was a 1.6 LS Ford Capri in a Light Green. It cost me £200 but was worth every penny for the back seat action :D ;) :-* :P

I got the pic up okay after some fiddling. And that is noice! :)
I'd love me another one, a VdP preferably as they are much rarer now than the Vitesse, but I wouldn't turn my nose up at a twin-plenum jobbie either.

I got a bit nosey and took a look at a couple of sites to see what's for sale at the moment. There's a right basket case, with a rubbish silver spray job slapped over it, and the garage wants nearly £3k for the heap. No ta.
I think you can still get new (or NOS) panels off the original press dies as they were shipped over to India when production ended.

1992 Citroen AX GT. I loved it right up until the point i had a company car and had to sell it,
