hi all has anybody tried the esso supreme i filled mine up with it and bloody hell what a difference faster smoother and seems to last a lot longer than normal unleaded so try it yourself :y :y
-
Wow, is it free too? ;)
-
That reminds me .. I must remember to buy some petrol in about 4 months .. I filled up last September and am now down to half a tank ..... and thats only 4000 miles ago... :(
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Not many of us filling up to the top these days I would think ! >:( >:( >:(
waiting for the Mortgage application for a tank full to be approved ;D ;D ;D
-
I dont think Ive ever not brimmed the tank, Im not queueing and paying twice, 1 trip, fill it, do it all again when empty. never seen the point of, 'ill chuck a tenner in' sod that for a game of soldiers.

even I don't put a Tenner in a mig :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ might not make it off the forecourt ;D ;D ;D ;D
at todays prices how much is it gonna cost me to fill up this new miggy anyway? :o :o :o :o

Yeah,
When i was poorer.....(not that i'm not poor now)
All i could do was chuck a tenner in here and there as a way of managing how much money i had in the day to day, by chucking £50 in (thren, more like £100 now), i wouldn't be able to buy something else cos that money was tied up in petrol i hadnt used yet.
only chucking in a bit has its uses for some people.
And also, makes car weigh less, so technically more efficient....just a thought.
-
At current prices it must be very close to costing £100 to fill an Omega tank from empty. Iirc its just under 134p per litre which tales it to the £100 per tank mark.
My first car cost £70 to buy - and I believe it had a full tank of petrol when I bought it. :(

i will go with that along with slip streaming, coasting and turning the engine off in a queue. now if i had a skateboard like that micheal j fox bloke...

I do, but only to get to a cheaper petrol station near home where it does always get brimmed.

money has been tight recently, so have been reduced to a tenner at a time top-ups - hardly moves the needle :'( :'(

Same here, brim it every week, currently at a 1/4 tank which is rare...tis only because I had a day off today and went, with the family, to Hartlepool, so wrong direction to fill up at Tesco and use my 5ppl coupon...... :D :D :D
-
i filled up yesterday..£83.70--just short of 66 litres@ 1.269 >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I have been banging on about this for weeks now! ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D
Although it seems very few on here believed me, ESSO unleaded has made my V6 much quieter, and when I first fully filled up with this fuel a slight tapping noise I had using supermarket fuel disappeared within about 20 minutes and has not returned.
As Glenny Boy states the engine is noticeable smoother, has more power and the MPG has improved, only only slightly; by 1.5 mpg! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) ;) ;)
ESSO garages around here have the unleaded at the same price as everywhere, so it has made every sense to stay with it. I intend to anyway as it is reallybetter!!!! 8-) 8-) 8-) :D :D :D :D :D :D ;)

I do agree Lizzie. Mine is so much better with it. Supermarket fuel not only made it tap, it also upset the knock sensors and put the emissions light on :y
To cap it all, Tesco is 1p dearer ;D

Hi,can you remember that old joke about how do you double the value of a skoda,by putting £10,s worth of petrol in it!.
Well I think that you could say that about the the miggy now.

Out of interest, can you quantify your claims? I use my car mainly for travelling to work and back, where majority of the time the speed limit is 30's, and 50's, so "faster" don't come into it. Chucking fuel in at £128.9 per is bad enough :'( :'( , so returns would have to be considerably better to justify £137+ per. :-? :-? :y
-
a mars bar shy of £100 to fill the pug the other day, fumes to full and it read 831 miles to go...but still.. :(
-
I can't afford to fill up with petrol in Worcester.
Droitwich is not too bad
-
Tenner a time is all I ever put it, it'll give me 50 odd miles in the Beemer and 85-100 miles in the van.
-
Usually whack £40 or £50 in at a time, generally running around 1/2 full most of the time.
Brimmed it to drive to York last weekend, and can confirm that from near-empty to full will cost you nearly £100.
I'll be checking out that Esso supreme at next fill up - cheers for the tip. ;)
-
a full tank of juice weighs alot, if you brim it, it'll noticably affect mpg
my bora never goes over half because i've no problem going to the petrol station weekly
-
i might have to put some petrol in mine, fuel light keeps popping on. I'll be generous and put £10 in, that should last me until the summer at least! :D
-
Put £30 of Vpower in the V6 the other night just so it had some in, sticking to using the Diesel in the week due to the running costs.
-
currently off rd therefore petrol expenditure = £00000000 ;D ;D ;D :y
Before that I used to only put £10 only for the very reason of also not tying up funds. I suppose my mileage commitment is not the same as you guys. Being in London and having tfl it helps extremely as I use that for daily commute to work. :) :)
To Lizzie: Have you used the Shell equivalent? if so is your experience the same? Unfortnately, have not used the esso variant as a local station to me, which was purchased privately, charges the earth, even before current petrol hike, so god kows what is now :(

Where in Lincoln is Esso Tonk?

Believe it or not,but i am actually guilty of sticking the odd fiver in now and again :-[,just to to get to work and back next day.No wonder i get a few funny looks on the forecourt when folks see me sticking a fiver in a 3.2,i just thought i was ugly. ;D ;D
-
I don't do a lot of mileage in any of the cars/van that I have so I normally run each tank to empty then fill up.
When there's some international tension I run the tanks to 3/4 full then top up, ensure that there's 120 litres of standby gasoline and diesel to hand (in 20 litre jerry cans) and keep the heating oil tank topped up in case I need to run the standby generator from it.
I spent £106 :( at Tesco on Monday topping up the van (from 3/4 full) and 60litres of gasoline to make up the standby supply.
The way things are developing in the near/mid East I suppose I'll be following this procedure for the foreseeable future.
-
I always use the Shell equivalent. As most of my running is around town I only get abput 16mpg but it 'only' costs me £20. The Elite seems to do more to the gallon the warmer the weather is which seems starnge as in the summer months it was doing 18 - 19mpg. :-?
-
I'm keeping mine filled up. Every time I go out fuel has gone up.
If you do average miles a year you probably use 150 litres a month. If it goes up 10 p a litre that is £15 after you have paid tax.
I wonder if the S/h price of Omegas will drop even further this summer as the government cuts really hit home and fuel rockets (with or without government tax)?
-
Brimmed mine twice this week £88 the first time and £80 the second will need to go again tomorrow can't face brimming it again as it@ll break my heart as well as the wallet :'( :'(

Heck Rob. I have just realised that I use Shell at the top of Burton Road. Not Esso. :-[ :-[
Anyway the end result seems the same :y
Isn't the Esso station on Newark road or did it shut down. ::) ::)
-
well fuel over here is at a high of 136 per litre and expected to rise again next week i need to get the mig on the road and get rid of my mazda6 (12l per 100km) but the chances of shifting that quick will be limited it may turn into my project car!!

I had one of those 5ppl coupons for Tesco.. took a big detour the other week to fill up with it; got there and ended up at a pump that's "pay at pump only" after 6.30pm, couldn't be bothered to go somewhere else and then realised that Tesco is 4ppl more expensive than Sainsbury which is right by my house.
Whoops ;D
(Shell & Esso are ~6ppl more than Sainsbury usually, even though they're all of 1000yds from Sainsbury!)

From what I can remember Esso was/is on the A46 to Newark just past the Walkers factory iirc
It's been 10 years since I was working at Lincoln :o

Cheeky tinker. :P ;D...........petrol was around 70p per GALLON then, and the tank was approx 8 gallons. So fill up from empty and you had enough change from 6 quid to buy 20 cigs.
Those were the days my friend. :'(

My 1966 Cortina only has an 8 gallon tank. Not sure how much it would've cost to fill it back then. I remember old money but i was only 3 in 1966!!!! ;D

No I have not yet and a Shell station is not convenient to me. I will try it though when I get the chance :y :y

I'm lucky, Sainsburys and Shell are less than 500 yards apart in my area so no probs using Shell at Sainsburys prices ;D

In 1966 I would put 5 gallons in my Cortina 1500 GT at the local Jet garage, 4s 8d a gallon. = £1:17p for 5 gallons. packet of Embassy filter for 10p then off to the pictures ( no movies in those days ) with the girlfriend, 2 tickets for the stalls 15p. 5 gallons Petrol, fags and the pictures for two for under £1:50..
