notice a load of posts re the motogp.
if you were only allowed to have a bike or a car purely as a driving machine what would it be?
i personally cant ride a bike but it would scare the crap out of me so i say the car.
discuss :y
-
Got to be car.
No need for dressing up. Doesn't fall over when you stop (mostly). Can carry more passengers. Can go to a meeting and not be wet through. Can sleep in it if needs be.
The list goes on.
-
true chris,
but from the ''driving'' experience?
my mate is always banging on about his bike and how fast it is. which is true but cars are fast enough and a lot safer lol
-
car for me transporting the mrs and 2 kids would be interesting on a bike ;D
-
Had loads of bikes years ago, Rocket Gold Star, 2 Bonnevilles, Norton Domi 99 & 650 SS . . . .
but frighten the life outta me now :-[ :-[ :-[
bruv's got a yamaha XJ 1300 . . . really scarey :o :o :o :o
So Car for me ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I'm just gettin' old ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
Difficult one that in my opinion you can never get a buzz in the car like you can on a bike, It depends on your circumstances wife, kids.etc, but have to say nice sunny day bike every time,
:y :y :y :y :y :y :y :y :y

Bike, no more sitting in a queue. You can filter past it all, even average bike gives super car performance.
Gortex clothing means cool in summer, and always dry!
My BMW GS is a big lardy tourer, but it will easily beat most cars off the line, the sensation of off-line and mid-range punch, beats any average car
-
well said tunnie can't wait for good weather to come me being a fair weather biker, :y :y :y :y
-
For me it's both.
As each have their practical and fun side.
-
Purely for pleasure ? - bike. No contest. ;)
-
the question was which would you have as a driving machine? not how i could ferry the kids or keep dry.so the bike has to win every time as you have to but the imput in all the time, you cant switch off and but the heater on and the wipers on when it rains.you have to be alert 100 percent of the time so as you are putting more in you get more out.
-
There was a time when I swore I would never own a car.

When i went to africa there were plenty of people with 3 or 4 people on a 125cc 4 stroke honda CG125 chinese copy lol
and they looked just fine...hanging on for dear life.
-
For comfort and practicality; the car(s). (Try transporting concrete fence posts on a bike lol). For fun and adrenalin rush; the bike every time. ;D ;D :y :y
-
If I lived in nice hot sunny country it would be the bike everytime as you can't beat the rush. ;D 8-)
That said in grotty weather UK it has to be the car. :'( :(

against:
you have to get up earlier to don the gimp suit and helmet.
you rely and pray for dry weather.
if you're overweight you look ridiculous on a bike (i know you think you don't, but you do)
bikes are quicker but are still subject to the same speed restrictions as the rest of us ( i know you're going through the village at 30mph.........but what was the 4 rapid down shifts everyone heard coming up to the "30" sign ;D ;D)
helmet hair - if you have any.
most car drivers dont think about bikes, if a car hits you - you're dead, the driver pulling out on his mobile is merely wondering what the noise was.
for:
err....you can leapfrog queues
oh....and you're bravely volunteering to donate organs for the rest of us - top work :y

If they're still 3D! :D :D :D

hopefully anything inside the skid lid will be useable, plus theres a new romper suit that inflates quickly to protect your vital organs, so as your head bounces off through the hedge/under the truck/whatever we can still harvest what we need without using a spatula :y

Takes me no longer to put on gortex trousers & a jacket than Jeans & t-shirt.
you rely and pray for dry weather.
I took my test on my bike in the winter, it was -7, there was snow on the ground. Gortex clothing also keeps you dry.
if you're overweight you look ridiculous on a bike (i know you think you don't, but you do)
I'm not overweight.

So why do you have a Legacy "Sport" - Why not get a 3 cylinder VW Fox? they do 70mph which is legal limit.
helmet hair - if you have any.
I'm a bloke, do I care what my hair looks like?
Riding a bike makes you a better car driver, you are aware more, look out for pot holes, man hole covers, road conditions.
Everyone has their passions, mother T used to keep horses, they could do 30mph, weigh 2 ton, and can refuse to stop if the want to. Being thrown from a horse can also kill you....
-
they're all good points Tunnie - I'm just reeling off justification for not having the bottle to ride :y
that and the wife won't let me ;D

Everyone has to do something thats enjoyable, scary & dangerous!
Another reason I snowboard 8-)
-
A bike every time and they're better at attracting females too ::)
-
Entirely depends on the reason you need transport - business, travel to work, family transportation, pleasure etc.
I can see the attraction of bikes for many people but personally I've never felt safe on them so 4 wheels for me everytime. :y
-
For pure enjoyment...... BIKE!!
I miss my zx6r Ninja :'(
-
how strange. i was expecting a thread of ''car'' votes. seems like youre all bikers. :y

1 Later since you can go faster through traffic
2 You can swerve around normally
-
just to add another option quad bike now they are becoming more popular and more road legal ones available
-
If you want a quad, this one looks like fun. 100bhp, should make it a bit interesting. ;)
