After 4 months of being off work, the madness of Jeremy Kyle TV finally got to me and I decided I needed a new toy.
Enter the Toshiba Satellite R630-155, what a machine.
It sports the Intel i5-480M CPU at 2.9GHz, with 4GB RAM and a 320GB HDD (which was immediately replaced with a Corsair C300 256GB SSD), gigabit ethernet, wireless N, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI out, eSATA, in fact just about everything you can think of is there.
It's real crowning glory for me though is the battery life, a genuine 7 hours use from a single charge with BT & Wi-Fi enabled. Add to the equation it weighs less than 1.4KG and you don't even know you are carrying it.
The notebook and the SSD combined set me back just over £1K, but I'm loving every minute of being stuck back at home with this little baby and after seeing just how quick this SSD is (355MB/sec read, 250MB/sec write) there is no way I am ever going back to a standard HDD.

and then i remembered i was work shy ;D ;D
It has bugger all to do with being workshy, and I don't get any assistance from the state because I had the audacity to save money throughout my working life.
I'm off work because my GP has decided that the only thing I need to worry about in the coming months is staying alive, whereas my only concern is where I can dump my savings so I can get back some of the £150 a week I was paying in tax prior to being signed off.

Easier said that done mate. If they think you`re trying to have `em over they`ll want receipts/invoices for where it`s gone >:(

It all sounds good. Will it run my Win XP? Can you play betamax videos on it?
That reminds me , I must get one of those newfangled DVD player thingies for my tower PC . :y

.....don`t forget an 8" floppy-drive; they`re so cool and definitely the way to go for mass storage! :y

Tell me about it Rob. My parents have decided to call in a personal loan ( ;) ) they gave me a little while ago which will help a fair amount, but I know full well in this day & age that I will have to account for pretty much every single last penny if they do decide to question where the small amount we have has gone.
There is something seriously wrong with the way we do some things these days, but that is another discussion IMO.

Yes, and yes, but why would anyone want such old technology? ;D

Still got some of those but I find the smaller floppy disks (3.25inch?) are better. You can get a lot of data on them. Two letters, a spreadsheet and so on.

Haven't your parents told you to tidy your room? ;D
Nice computer BTW :y

It'll never take off,I've found magnetic tape on big reels to be quite useful for storage ;D
I did make it smaller for my ZX Spectrum though

Several times, but I was never one for doing as I was told :)

Thanks, pity I can't say the same about the 3G bandwidth at the hossy right now :(
