Anyone done the nearside?
Yes I know its supposed to be a real bugger but can anyone give me a few tips on how to go about it, mines blowing like mad and its MOT time in a fornight so I suppose i need it done pretty rapidly.
Spent most of the afternoon down the pit today and that back bolt on the heat shield looks bloody impossible. Its managed to eat an E10 socket as well. Dropped off the bar and vanished into thin air.
To cap it all I removed the plenum to look for it and solenoid valve connector came off as I tried to unplug it so it was eml on all the way home >:(
Least I managed to change the lambda that was giving me an intermittent fault code so somethings gone my way today.

Strictly the engine or the left hand cylinder head needs to be removed.
However, You should be able to support the engine on a crane / good jack, and nudge it over enough to remove the manifold if you're careful.
The only time I'd envisage a real problem is if you snapped a stud, no idea how you'd get a drill in there :-/

We can get a block and tackle over it so support shouldn't be a problem.
I think the nuts should be the helicoil type on mine, the ones on the downpipes are so here's hoping.
