9million cars recalled after 37 deaths in the US were attributed to either a floor mat or an electronic glitch, remember that? Toyota lost about $2bn. As thes cases came to court, almost without exception the accidents were caused by driver error - usually elderly, or stupid or both :o :o
$2bn...plus untold damage to your company name over a media panic and a litigious culture of blame :(
75 black boxes were examined - all bar one crash, the brakes werent applied - just reading TG magazine and followed it up online - I guess Toyota just have to let it go as the US is a massive market :-?

Sadly, the blame culture has poisoned our society - not just in the US, but here too. :( >:(

As normal we follow the US in whatever they do, good, bad or downright stupid! ::)

And it was of course pure coincidence that this story was all over the U.S. media at the same time as the U.S auto manufacturing industry was on the brink of collapse. ;)
They dont mind a bit of protectionism across the pond. ::)

.. and of course the US car industry never has to
recall vehicles due to safety concerns bury the evidence and pretend everything is fine. ::)
