I`ve been terribly upset tonight, after reading this story about a lovely dog, named 'Star'.....
http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20110520/local/shot-dog-call-for-information-issued-as-star-starts-road-of-recovery.366311
.....I know 'we' humans can be wickedly cruel, but this plumbs new depths of depravity! >:(

I didn't click the link, I don't need to be reminded how sick some members of the human race can be.

Me too :(

Yes, unfortunately it makes me think of the sadder stories that we don't get to hear about where the poor dogs/cats/other animals etc, aren't found and rescued.
I'd genuinely do the same to them. They deserve to suffer. Human in form only

I'll take your word for it Deb - I really couldn't look at anything like that and maintain composure. :( :(
-
terrible Debs. :'(

For all those who did not click the link, let me assure you that the "victim" has turned out to be a star (literally!). Whilst the injuries and treatment she suffered were horrendous, let us look on the bright side: that she was rescued, cared for, and survived, all courtesy of humans that really care.
When you read the comments, you will soon see that that everyone quite rightly despises this ill-treatment. There are still more good people than bad around. Thank God. :y

Me neither >:(
Let's hope she makes a good recovery and finds a decent home.

Cowardly! >:(

Lets just hope that justice will be done the people that do this need the same in return.

Since moving to Spain, I have been shocked at the levels of suffering inflicted on animals. From unwanted dogs being thrown out of moving vehicles to malnutrition/neglect.
I think it is perhaps to do with animals not having souls in deeply religious countries.
We had not long been here when a local decided his poorest performing hunting dog had to be killed. He handed his shotgun to his 12 year old son and said kill it. And he did. Right of passage? Who knows.
In a war situation folk (mostly men) can find an outlet for their normally repressed desires. In peacetime I think it gets vented on animals and women.

The poor, dear canine-soul whom endured such appalling cruelty: being shot 40 times, then bound and then buried alive; died today and is finally at rest. :'(
:'( Rest peacefully, little-one. :-*

She did'nt make it? What really gets me in such cases is the dog still loves it's abusive owner...wasted loyalty. I imagine most of us can't understand the mind workings of such sick individuals, i certainly can't.
Sadly the legal system is'nt able to dish out the deserved justice due to "human rights?"
In my Kangaroo court this despicable specimen has forgone his, he'd be begging to die if i had my way.
No i could'nt click the link & yes i'm welling up. >:( :'(

Sad :'(

Yeah, i often wonder why people seem to think animals are worth less and that it's ok to treat them worse than humans. Is it because they aren't as intelligent as people (well, most people), or that their methods of communication aren't as sophisticated? They still feel emotions as powerful as ours. Pain, terror, fright and dread. Suffering. All compounded by the inability to understand.
Save the animals :y

Precisely.

Very sad indeed.
If I were dealing with the perpetrators in such cases it would be so easy for me to disregard the oath I have taken.
Having witnessed years of such incomprehensible activity, the capacity for humans to behave in an inhuman way constantly surprises me.

Indeed Cem. I don't believe in after life, heaven or hell. I also have a forgiving nature but if i'm wrong about the afterlife issue then i wish such folk endless suffering as their actions are unforgivable.

im a bit lost for words very sad :'(

.....well, shockingly normal (TBH)!!!!!! :o

For causing untold/prolonged suffering to that poor dog: he received 3 Months in prison and a €10,000 fine......but he`s lodged an appeal so the terms may end up lighter. :'(
.....and I hope think he will always have to have eyes in the back of his head! :-X
