Title: No more the valet tart.
Post by: Amigo on 21 June 2011, 19:13:34
It's so liberating not to have to wince at every puddle, spec of dust etc. The MX5 is going into the workshop soon for a full paint new pads all round (discs ok), welding on one rear sill/arch, full engine & bay valet, new mohair hood & rear screen, twin exit rear box, race center pipe, de cat pipe & 4-2-1 powerflow manifold, boot spoiler, new white wheels with a deeper dish on the rear, clear repeaters, stereo upgrade & some interior mods, rear shocks & springs & anything else i've forgotten or come up with. The hood will be fitted at the suppliers & the standard alloys will be refurbed, kept as spares or sold as they're the later Mk1 type & have £300 worth of new pirellis fitted.

I still keep what little interior there is hoovered & polished but it's great to throw the top back without unzipping the already foo barred rear screen.....the valet tart will return soon though!!!! 8-)

I know i mentioned a while back about getting a facelift estate later but i don't think i will now. In my little mind i've already had the best Mig so would never love another as much as i did the beastie. I'll run the MX5 & the old Cortina for a couple of years while watching Monaro prices slowly drop...i hope.
The basic 5.7's are around 8 or 9k now so in 2 or 3 years who knows? 8-)

must be spending a few quid on that MX5 Guy?

Monaro's & VXR8's (which are really growing on me) have stablised in price. Why not get one, then sell it in a years time, won't loose too much  :y

I'd love to but hav'nt got the full cash price to spare. If i was REALLY desperate to have one quick i could manage a good deposit & finance/bank loan the balance or pay outright with an equity release on the house but i hav'nt had a pay rise in 8 years & house repo's a 40 odd thousand a year? The MX5 & Cortina are all paid for & i love my modest 3 bed semi so i'm going to bite my teeth & wait a while.

Not easy when i know i could have a Monaro on the drive within a week! ::)
