I've just found a picture of my old Yamaha FJ1200
I bought it brand new in January 1991 for £4750....It wears an H plate.
I wish I still owned this bike today...... 125 BHP and 80 lb ft of torque.
None of your nancy boy water cooling for this beauty.
£1,000 could buy me a nice usable example....Hmmm..makes me think. :y

Yup, its a clone of mine, other than I have the chromed/carbon Neta pipes rather than the all black ones. Mine is on a G plate and, if I recall correctly, just 43K miles young.
And it can lift up its kilt and run when asked, scaring the bejezus out of some of the power ranger wannabes with the sliders velco'd to the outside of their knees. ;D

Grab it Opti! Probably the best "sport/tourer" ever built! If you had one, you'll know, lol! Bullet proof, high mileage motor and will still embaress in the right hands lol! Saw two out and about over the weekend and they still look good. Go on, go on, go on, ah, go on.....

I've seen Broocies FJ. Good all rounders i reckon. Kawasaki did a similar sport tourer, v quick & reasonable handling for the size...ZZR?

If memory serves she came with Pirelli Phantom tyres when new. Never a big fan I invested in a pair of Metzelers. Excellent tyres. :y

No match for the twelve in a top gear roll on. They were slow old dogs even way back then.TB will tell you the same... ::) ::) ::) ;)

Christ those fj forks are thin. A clue to the general performance. :P Wanted one back in the day though. After an Exup.
modern 600's put out similar poke these days I believe. Bit out of touch tbh. :'(

i use that have a FJ back in the early 90`s midnight black loved it
was eather a e ot f reg pre abs
Albs there not that heavy there only about 590pounds wet and well balanced
they were made for ear scraping they were a nice sport tourer
the FJ was a dam good bike i did not like the ones with the small front wheel
only trouble it ever gave was a burned out wire in wiring harness under tank
iv just this year went back to bikes and got me self a Harley and am loving riding again :D :D :D
if you want another bike go for it :y

The modern 600,s dont need that much torque though, as they weigh about the same as a wet tissue.
I would add that I have never seriously thought about a big heavy bike at least in part because Im not physically capable of manhandling one around the drive etc. due to a mispent youth. ::)

you be suprised m8 its mostly technic
iv got a deformed spine my hips are at 45degs now and me knees is shot and bad neck and about 3 fooked disks
and i can shift my harley about and it about the same weight as the FJ
without a problem
but do have a understanding doc that will prescribe the good stuff when i need it

Not really technique in my case. I have almost no muscle/strength/cruciate ligament in my right leg and a completely worn out knee joint. If the bike ever gets to tipping point when being pushed/pulled, theres nothing I can do.
Even my cbr600 has caught me out on a few occasions, during off bike manouvering.
590lb is nearly 270 kg - nearly 100kg heavier than a new sports 600 (wet) ;).

iv got a lot of mussel loss on my left leg and am not far off from needing a new left knee due to it twisting when i walk
it not all about weight a bike i was riding a m8s 1600 cruzer other day and it much heaver than my Harley but it way better balanced and feels lighter
i thort i would have trouble at first but am a determined bastard lol
im just careful not to park it pointing down hill lol
i just neck the pain killer and force my self to do stuff
you only live once
it surprising how well i can hold it up if i over balance
and extra streanth you find
when you compare the new chrome bill to the pain lol
but i tell you what is a killer
the as i got atheritus is the clutch pull on a Harley when i get stuck in traffic its murder on my left arm
and hand
only troble i have moving is is if im trying to pull it backwards up hill
that said i am quite tall im 6`3 and as a weird side effect of the scoliosis /spinal curvature im abnormally stronger on right side than normal
so can pick the bike up off stand just with my right arm

I briefly owned a glossy red Yamaha XS1100 Shaft years before I bought The FJ. Full of petrol it weighed roughly the same as the Titanic. ;) ;) . Certainly well over 600lbs. :-/
Only 95 B.H.P.....but it still went like shit off a shovel. :y
