There's an old Skoda, which looks an awful lot like the one pictured near the end of that link, near my office.. I wonder if it's the last one!

I had a Fiat 132 about 1974 ish it was great for the times but it busted a piston on the M4 The wolsey is similar in shape but much posher version of the austin 2lt i had once back in the distant past. Biggest pile of rubbish i have ever had the misfortune to own.
The best and most fun was a 1983 Holden Commodor 5lt v8
O how i wish!!!

i think the wosley on there is the version of the wedge shape austin princess, i nearly bought one couple years ago, its still not back on the road but i know a couple more exist.  I had a 1700 princess that was like driving a sofa! sooo comfy, she went off to the states!  ::)

i think that most old BL cars have gone full circle, they were so uncool, they are now totaly retro cool. it is good fun driving the old ones, aslong as you dont take yourself too seriously or wear a flat cap lol
ive seen many princess's sell for well into 4 figures! and allegros, used to be able to pick them up cheap for laughs, but well over a grand for anything worth driving. retro prices seem a little crazy at the moment!

Did anyone ever drive Yugo?  ;D If they don't extinct, they should be terminated! They were everywhere two decades ago where I live. Although they were easy to mantain (only scissorc and some tape needed) , had one... 8-)

I wouldn't mind a trabant. I drove one in Poland. A lhd with a column shift manual box. Loads of fun, not much power but the rev happy two stroke left some quality skidmarks!

The bloke I picked my engine up from had an Interceptor in his garage - absolutely pristine condition and it was his daily drive! His 'project' was the restoration of a Jensen HC-1 from ~1940 - apparently the only one in existence, because it was the only HC1 ever made.. beautiful piece of motoring history.

(Pic is an HL1 - long wheelbase V12 powered, the HC1 was shorter with a 4.2ltr in-line 8 cylinder engine)

i used to have a  brown allegro 1300 estate which i "modded"
skinny wolfrace wheels on the front and big fat ones on the back, furry seat covers ,dice and dash, twin side pipes and a big 8 track with some household speakers in the back with a graphic equiliser with lots of lights.
back in the days it was popular with my mates as we could get about 8 people in plus beer and always started and cost pennies to run.

I found out why  ;D ;D We christened it the FLYING TURD :D

I took my princess to several scrap yards and the first half a dozen didn't want it, They were not interested in the scrap metal value they were all selling parts, The damn car even had an MOT. This was about 1996/7.

to be honest i cant recall i think it was all about the look! and having something diffrent.iam not even sure if i knew  the diffrence between front and rear wheel drive.i just knew that fast cars had big rear wheels so that was the look i wanted.
think they where 155s on the front and 205s on the back and i had to modify the arches[ a scaff pole was used] !!!

If you had the 1700 model would'nt that have been an Ambassador? I think the Princessess were 1800's & 2200's from the earlier Wolsely 6/Landcrab range.....

...God did i really just post that? What a classic car geek!! ::)

I think the wedge shapes were the 18/22 range designation.

The landcrabs were the Austin/Morris 1800 and the Wolseley were the 18/85 and 18/85s with the Wolsely 6 as the daddy.

I liked my Wolsely 18/85s.  Twin break off SU's on the 1800 A series engine.  Good fun, despite front wheel drive.

As an aside, made a great passion waggon.

Front seats were hard up against each other, no gaps, with the handbrake out the dashboard.  gearleaver was of the magic wand vintage and, being a Wolsely, the front seats reclined fully.

.....against the front edge of the rear seat squab, making a rather good representation of a double bed without the handbrake or gear levers to get in the way.

Worked for me, says he, 31 years later.....   ;)
