Today/yesterday @1700hrs. Once the nurses had prepared her my grown up son Scott went in again to say goodbye to his Grandma & Dad was understandably mortified. I wated drinking in the garden until the undertakers took her outside where she'd wanted to be for weeks, kissed her goodbye & told her i'd never stop loving or missing her. I forced myself to watch her getting covered up & taken away, she bought me into this world so i had to see her off.
I've never felt so terrible, it's undescribable but all i could do for her. All the sisters/nieces & nephews are staying across the lane tonight which leaves my lad, myself, the old boy & a confused black lab crying & laughing. This is well rough & just wrong but at least she's at peace now
I'm not posting this on my MX5/Cortina forums or f/book but i've known you lot long enough not to mind.
To those of you who've shared similar losses on here i know how you feel now..who said biglads don't cry? :'(

All i can say is that i'm sorry for you and your familys loss and peace be with you all at this time. Maybe one day the pain will not be so bad friend. They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.

I'm sat here reading this post with tears rolling down my cheeks, deepest condolences Guy, I know how you feel I lost my mum in similar circumstances almost two years ago, It's a mixture of emotions. Glad that there is no more suffering but sorrow that the lady who has been there for you all of your life has past on. She may have left you on this earth but she will be forever with you in your heart

I am so sorry to hear this. I gather from previous posts it was expected, but nothing helps soften the blow of it when it happens. Not even the knowledge that perhaps there is some element of relief that the suffering has ended.
Chin up, big fella, we are thinking of you

Sorry for your loss, it is never easy at a time like this you have my sincere condolences.
-
May she rest in peace now Guy. :'(
You can shed tears that she is gone
Or you can smile because she has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her
Or you can be full of the love that you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember her and only that she is gone
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what she would want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
-
Sorry for your loss, my sincere condolences.

Sorry for your loss Guy,it's never easy when this happens.
I know what it's like as I lost my mum 8 years ago,you will still have your memories even though she has gone.
All the best to you and your family,Simon.
-
Thanks again all of you for your thoughts. Given the state she was in i'm kinda glad she's not suffering & making those racking noises anymore. In some ways i feel closer to her now as if she's watching me so i'd better behave!!!
I've told Dad she's watching him too & making a list!!!!!
The Cremation is friday week @ Findon Valley in West Sussex so i'll be going down again on the Thursday & stopping off at Hove to pick my son up.
Big boys will cry again because we love her & i've got to read/speak but i'll do it regardless. I've set myself off again now but your wishes have REALLY helped & taught me not to be so curt with some of you at times...(Broocie) when i know your hearts are in the right place & i should shut up...which i will do now suffice to say OOF has really helped.
Cheers, Guy.
-
Heartfelt sympathies. Celebrate and honour your mum's life and know without pain she is in a better place.
I lost my Nana very recently in similar circumstances and as hard as it's been, the family have got each other through it.
I hope you and your big boys will do her and yourselves proud.
Best wishes, Dave.
