Hi all :).... i have an omega elite 3.0...i have a problem with the engine cutting out whilst driving, as you can imagine this can be very scary, its an intermittent problem which might not occur for over a month ...yet can happen 5 or 6 times in a day....the engine generally starts up, if not right away, then after 2 or 3 goes on the ignition i have had this checked out by two seperate auto elecricians....sadly as the engine seems to right itself after a few seconds, and is working when they run diagnostic, they cannot specify the fault, evidently the problem has to exist before it can be detected, they have suggested that i take it to Vauxhaul to see if they can run further checks, but i have heard that they can be really expensive, and as i have already splashed out a fair amount of money getting it thru the mot last month, i am not sure if its worth it, i dont know if anyone has experienced this problem at all, but i would really appreciate some advice on this matter, as sadly i have to sell this beauty because of disability and am picking my new car up in July, and as you can appreciate i cannot and will not sell until this problem is solved, I hope one of the omega owners might be able to offer some advice... thanks... Toppo :)

i'd say the crank sensor is on the way out....check the maintenance guide section for some info. Get it replaced ASAP as it sounds like its on the way out, once failed the car won't start.
Its an easy and low cost job, so don't worry :y

Hi tunnie, thanks for your reply, on my first visit to the auto electrician he fitted what he called a new crank box...would this be the same as a new crank sensor? Toppo :)

I've not heard of a crank box before.
Before replacing kit though, read out the fault codes.
Is this the car that was for sale? What year is it, and how much is it going for?

Price is about right for someone who wants once (once the cutting out is resolved...)

never heard of a crank box before, do the paper clip test and post up the fault codes :y

Naah, just sell it to me as is.... however it would be for considerably less than £500 ;)

It's only banter mate ;)
Still, get those codes read - I suspect crank sensor is at fault.
Once you sort that, it will be a lot more sell-able, and you should get that asking price :y

Thanks James, i know its banter, and appreciate it all :P...will do as advised if i can work out what the paper clip test is :-[ if i fathom it out i will post up codes for everyones kind perusal....thanks again.... Toppo :y
