Title: Seems reasonable to me
Post by: Nickbat on 14 August 2011, 23:32:48
An unemployed couple and their family have been moved into a luxurious London home worth £2million - and pay it with a monthly £8,000 housing benefit funded by the taxpayer.

I've decided to turn over a new leaf and side with the socialists. This is excellent news. :y

Only a mean spirited, hard hearted individual would begrudge them such a nice place. :y

i was doing work on  temporary council properties which were rented out from private landlords early last year, one of the houses we had to repair cost 30k, there was no floor in the bedroom just a large hole going through to the kitchen, no doors woodwork ripped off and the kitchen and bathroom was in such a stae i could not desribe it, the family in question that could not speak english were given a nice new council property. but the council offered the owner 10k in compensation, they backed down when he threatened legal action. and this was just 1 of the properties out of a 1000 rented to the council that were in a mess

In 1979 , my next door neighbour asked me if I could run him round to his parents who lived in the centre of New Parks in Leicester.

Even now I can picture the place. No furniture except for a grubby 3 piece suite, a truly huge TV and a cooker and a sink unit. The stairs had GONE - been burnt for heat. Garden was six foot high with weeds and old fridges and washing machines.

The kitchen looks pretty naff for an £2,000,000 property.....  :-/  They should complain! It probably infringes their human rights...  >:( Think of the compo  ;)

I have lost count the number of homes in poor condition, that I have visited, that have huge TV's, music systems and computers / lap tops but want help to buy a bed or washing machine....... :-X :-X :-X

You should be allowed to instruct them to sell the luxury appliances in order to buy the essential ones. ;)

I think 'Bright House' might have something to say about that, but your point is valid.......

I know some families who have more money coming in, from benefits, than I net in a month, but have no mortgage or council tax to pay.........Must not get started on this, but I should point out that all my colleagues feel the same............. :-X :-X :-X

It really is time something was done about it.There may not be the jobs at the moment in some parts of the country, but they should imo be made to do something constructive for the community/country/taxpayers who are funding their lifestyle.

Btw - what or who is Brighthouse ? :-/

Basically it is a 'Never Never' shop, buy what you want and pay weekly, little or no credit checks :-/ we have adds on TV up here, I think the APR is around 30%

To be fair, it is not much worse that running up your credit card............. ::) ::)
