Can anything like this be done with a DTI, if so, does it give any benefits, (not the Vicky Pollard type benefits).  ;D ;D

looks like a pipe to suck in small furry animals and cook them on the V6 plenum....

Cooler air is always better, petrol or diesel. However, I would be surprised if a significant improvement over the standard induction setup is possible and, with the intake that low to the ground, I'd be worried about ingesting water. Ingesting water with a diesel is very bad news!

OK for a track car perhaps but I wouldn't bother for road use.

I could never understand on my Miggy the air intake is behind the grill, curved upwards, like a trumpet, each time I wash the car I put a plastic bag over it to stop the water collecting in it, surly rain water would get in there also.

It is a curious piece of design. I assume there's probably a drain hole at the bottom of the curve to let out any water but quite why it ended up that shape I'd love to know. I guess they tried to raise the end as high as possible to avoid sucking water and it's ideally placed to avoid hot air, as it will catch the cold air that's being drawn in by the cooling fans, or rammed in by the forward motion of the car, before it gets heated up by the radiator. I would imagine it probably picks up a bit of heat soak from the rad when not moving so it's probably not ideal for drag racing where you need to make maximum power after waiting in a queue for ages.

if that is connected to a standard airbox then it will not do much for the performance of the car, however it does look loike the trunking you would get on a pipercross Viper kit, these are dear but the do what they are supposed to do......

I agree about the position of it as well, it does look too low, i would have tried to mount the fee a little higher to avoid picking up water of little bits of foreign objects.

yep, that's a viper kit alright.

Basically a cone filter encased in a carbon fibre housing so as to stop it from being affected by the heat from the engine bay, the cold air feed aiding this job by getting air that is outside of the engine bay.

A lot of money but worth it just for the issues its resolves

I had one on a Mk2 cav Convertible with a C2.5XE fitted, along with 3.0 cams, modded throttle body, tubular manifold and a 4 bar FPR it was kicking out 202bhp, you should have seen peoples faces when that thing took off

Sorry i missed you guy's at the show, probably up the drag strip watching the corsa boys trying to
hit 60mph in first gear ;D
Yes it is mine & the intake may not be to everybody's taste but its grown on me. I was going to change it but was unable to find anything that didnt restrict airflow too much.
As for the positioning it was the only place the pipe would fit and ive never had any problems with sucking up water as i tend to avoid rivers  :y
i did have to put some mesh inside as i didnt want to suck the odd furry animal.
