I'm currently able to offer people 50% off Sky's usual prices for a year, this sadly does not apply to current customers.
I only have a few coupon codes available, so need to act fast. Also a couple of the Admins have previously expressed interest in the offers i get, Daz? You still want one? - So they get first Dibs.
Part of my T&C's for these codes, also state they must also to be my "friends", so I can't offer these to newbies, sorry!

After watching sky for the last 2 months i don't think i will ever get it. if i want to watch sports its better in the pub and films are 4 for a tender in the pub. apart from that i think its just loads of channels repeating everything over and over again
-
I understand that Richie, but I posted this for anyone wanting it who can get it cheaper.
This is not intended to be a lets slag off Sky thread, if people are interested PM me :y

not slagging off sky so don't take it personal just cause you work for them. I know your trying to help people which is good for you as a person and also skys sales. i had telewest and virgin an i think they are a waste of money.if you find that offensive saying that then that's down to you.

I'm not offended Richie, I don't work in sales either. :y
Just posted as there are a fair few F1 fans here who might have been interested in it.

I know your a kind decent man and helping others is what its all about. :y
-
I think that it is a kind thing to do, passing on a bonus if people want Sky. :y :y
The thing that confuses me is that I have Freeview TV via the aerial, and all I want is F1 and maybe Cricket so what is the best way to get it from a UK company? I don't want the whole package or a bloody BOX, one contoller is enough :-/ Can I just buy the channel I want eg SKY1, it shows up on the list of channels I can receive along with all the soft porn ones ;D ;D ( Red Tube et al is free ;))
-
Sadly no, you have to purchase a package :(
One option for you and its not ideal, is you can get Sky Sports 1,2,3,4, ESPN, ATR, Sky News, Sky Sports news all for just £8.
Only snag its on your iPhone, but the quality is the same as standard TV, its just on a much smaller screen :y

Tunnie ! Any news as to when it will be available on Android ?

Tunnie ! Any news as to when it will be available on Android ?
All details I have is end of the year :(
Good news is Sky Go, matches your home subscription, so if you have sports and Movies you get those on your phone too. (for no cost)
-
Cheers Tunnie,
I'll see what I am going to do next F1 season, after we see how it goes on the BBC with half of the races shown in highlight form. I am loathe to pay for TV which also gets revenue from advertising. :(

For F1, there will be no advertising during the live race. Nor are there any during the Films.
I just Sky+ everything and fast forward adverts :)

No streaming to Android is a completely different kettle of fish, iPhone its one phone, one device, one screen resolution, one set of guidelines to work to.
People who working on it are sitting not far away from me, its being worked on. :y

BT Vision. I think the sports packages still work out £20 though, and its still a seperate box :(
-
I feel quite left out. I don't want Sky, nor do I want F1 ;D

Can't disagree there :y
But (personally) don't think Sky fare any better. With no disrespect for Sky intended.

I should add a thankyou to tunnie for making his offers available to as many people as he can. Its always good to be able to save money, if TV is what floats your boat :y

But can you have free sky go if you don't have sports (just movies)? Doesn't say clearly in the app description :-/ :-/

The App is free, but its linked to what ever you subscribe to at home.
There is an iPhone App called "Mobile TV" this is for the iPhone, and has the channels i listed above, this is not linked to your SkyID and is not linked to your home subscription.
This is £5/m if you are a customer & subscribed to Sky Sports 1, £8/m if you are not.
Sky Go is a separate product, this is linked to your SkyID and matches what your home subscription is. If you have just movies and entertainment (no sports) then you get News & Movies only on the phone.
If you have sports, and no movies, then you get News & Movies.
If you don't have either Sports or Movies, you just get news.

I realise that, but my point is that I pay for a Public Broadcast Channel (BBC), and get FREEview in with the cost, the other commercial channels have to fund themselves from advertising. Why can't SKY just get the advertising to pay not the subscribers?
How much is paid to cousin WAYNE, and his muppets? SKY is the curse of the working mans game FOOTBALL.
Still who am I ? we only watch TV for about 3 hours a day if there is a decent drama on, and the news.
I just happen to be an F1 fan one who is deprived of watching a sport I like, without having to pay for all the crap( for me) that comes with it >:(
Thin edge of the wedge in my opinion we will end up paying for all TV and not just the BBC which in my humble opinion should compete on a level playing field with the commercial channels, and be supported by advertising.
If you want the Asian network, Radio3 and the World Service etc then subscribe :y

Actual advertising revenue does not cover that much, Sky News for example makes an annual loss of around £30 million a year, a fraction of what BBC News costs.
Broadcasting via Satellite, investing in box design, setups, all cost. Also have you seen how much football rights cost!? All of that money gets straight back to the clubs who buy the players...
Broadcasting Mobile TV to Sky Go, costs a lot of money, Sky pays a CDN (Content Delivery Network) same one BBC used to use, to handle all the streams.
But at the end of the day, Sky is a business. Its out there to make money, unlike BBC you don't have to pay for it if you don't want it.
Look at it this way, how many channels do BBC show? You pay £12 a month for their stuff, do you get broadband with BBC, phone package?
Costs £18 for basic package from Sky, for that you get Broadband, Phone & TV package. They are also continuing to invest, where is BBC's live broadcasts to phones, where is their 3D channel?

I really do get it, and yes it's a business it's just that I don't really care about the technology I just want to watch WHAT I WANT, and am prepared to pay for without the PACKAGES.
3D didn't work years ago it won't do so now, lets put glasses on to watch TV ;D ;D ;D ;D don't forget to take them off if you go for a wee ;D ;D THEN AGAIN :y
Perhaps I am in the dark ages but all I want to do is watch a program, analogue was fine, is digital really that much better?
I only ever use a mobile phone if I am travelling any great distance, I can read a map, SAT NAV I'd strangle the bitch, OH! I prefer vinyl records to my IPod (which is only ever stuck in it's Bose Dock :y :y :y

There is a flaw in that statement though Tunnie... Because I live in the sticks and my exchange isn't (and probably won't be any time soon) LLU I can only have Sky Connect BB which doubles that basic package cost ;)

Very true :y
Although if BT installed a decent infrastructure you would be ok! :P

Yep, but just thought that the "not so cheap" sky package should also be pointed out ;) As you know, I already have Sky so not exactly trying to talk myself out of it ::)
What I must do is call them up and tell them I'm going to cancel so I can have another discounted period ::) ::)
-
I feel quite left out. I don't want Sky, nor do I want F1 ;D
Given your team and opinions on motor sport, why have a tv at all? Just a monitor? :P
-

Ive got Sky, but dont particularily want it. I dont mind a bit of F1 but theres no way am I ever going to pay extra just to watch it. ::) :D
-
So is this offer for half price of the subscription (monthly) or just half price on the sports package?
-

Half price on the entire subscription. Go for the full lot? Movies, Sport, ESPN what ever package you pick, you get 50% off for a year :y
-
Great offer, if you would be happy sharing a code with a relative 'newbie' then I would be most appreciative. No doubt if I take the plunge for a V6 estate there may be a call to your recovery service :P
-
Must say a public thanks to Tunnie - all signed up now and looking forward to install in a couple of weeks :y :y

Amcrap ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
No chance then
This is where Ondigital had it right you could watch it on ANY CAM compliant digital device, worked well on my last TV.
Why would someone want multiple boxes cluttering up the place, why couldn't say TB use a CAM on his media centre PC?
Why do people struggle with CAMs and decent receivers for a few FTV encrypted channels?
BTW there are more people moving from Sky to Freesat than the other way round.
As to F1 defiantely getting RTL over winter just need to get a new dish quad LNB and a couple of Diseqc switches.
Most Freesat boxes support multi satellite.

Agreed. Problem is, Sky are addicted to boxes which stay on all night phoning home (if you choose to connect them to the outside world). ::)
Hopefully a dose of Amsturd reliability will help our case. ;D

I've got one of the new builds, they are considerably smaller and quieter than current range. Picture appears crisper too, swapped out old HD box straight in for the new one, back to same channel. Picture looked better :-/

As others have said, I can't see Sky ever going to the Conditional Access open standards. The problem with open standards is they are hard to tweak, and easy to hack.
I know Sky has been hacked, but its always done via sharers, rather than the systems that were unable to protect ONdigital.
I would only have Sky if it could be from the MCE, but even then it would be unlikely. The TV is no better, it just takes longer to decide its all trailer trash.
