So when was the last time you wrote a cheque.
I am sending one today and gasp the last time was 9th July 2004!
-

Funnily enough I have very little to do with our finances. However the wife will allways use a cheque if possible. The demise of the cheque is well overated I am afraid.
I mean get plumber in to change a tap, you pay by cheque, same with most other trades.

last week..
Very handy, would hate to be without
-
Last saturday .. but that's a year since the prior one was written out!
Hardly ever use them - bank transfers took their place, with builders etc all wanting cash in hand anyway..
-
I use them mainly for :
Buying certain things at door.
Paying for kids swimming lessons.
Paying OOF meet deposits.

Forgive my ignorance on this but do you have to go to the bank to do a bank transfer ?
-
about 10 yrs ago, maybe longer. have no need for one or a credit card.
-
Yesterday but, that was the first time for some 4 years

No, can be done online

Almost any financial transaction can be done in minutes online. If I put my mind to it, I could be £10,000 in debt by 2 o'clock.

Yup, or over the phone.. the only time I go to the bank these days is when I need to get (large amounts) of cash out to pay the aforementioned builders etc.. and need to do the same before Saturday to pay for an engine on eBay (sadly he didn't want to take PayPal).
Note to self: Do not forget to go to the bank. ;D

Yesterday for me,I normally write two or three a week and receive in payment a dozen or so in the same time frame,I was speaking to my business banking manager the other day and he told me that the plans to finish with cheques have been put on hold indefinitely.
-
use them roughly once every month to pay plumber, gas fitter etc - they seem happy. Roofers want cash.
Blockpaver wanted part cash part cheque.
They have their uses.
-
About once a fortnight on average...
-
Probably about 5 years ago.....
Everything is either cash or debit card or paypal or direct debit.
-
Two or three weeks back, to pay Martin Imber :y

It's still in rice and I'm praying hard...so maybe not.
-
Dont hold your breath. ;) ::)
-
47 and never written one.
-
We still use them occasionally, school trips, Brownie Subs, Birthday gifts etc, Whilst we do not use many, most bills direct debit or on line, I would not want to lose the option..... :)
-
a couple of months ago but about a year before that.
Yet I see people who go through them very quickly as they don't trust direct debits or electronic transfers
-
Would have to check my cheque book when I get home ;D
But I would guess well over a year ago. ::)
-
the last i saw my cheque book was a decade ago. And im pretty sure the cheque book is still intact, gathering dust somewhere?
-
jan the 28th, same time every year to pay the accountant..

Maybe, but I did keep the cat locked up..... :D :D

last time i used a cheque was for my pub company in 2005. 8-)

Stopped using them many years ago but the bank still keeps sending me new books every year for all our accounts. Cheques take too long to process and all the while they are in the hands of the banks for clearance it is the banks who collect the interest on your money. Must be millions a day too.
I use direct transfers or online payments by debit cards which is instantaneous and with no charges. It leaves my accounts immediately and is in the other parties account within a few hours at most, excepting weekends and holidays when it is the next working day. ;)
