I hope I write it correct.. :-/
When you eat outside and especially fast food, probably you feel hungry a lot quicker than normal.. Reason is this chemical added to those foods.. its an excitotoxin (another one I hardly write) :(

Monosodium glutamate, also known as sodium glutamate and MSG, is a sodium salt of glutamic acid, a naturally occurring non-essential amino acid. It is used as a food additive and is commonly marketed as a flavour enhancer. It has the HS code 29224220 and the E number E621. Trade names of monosodium glutamate include Ajinomoto, Vetsin, Ac'cent, "Sazón Goya" and Tasting Powder. It was once made predominantly from wheat gluten, but is now made mostly from bacterial fermentation; it is acceptable for coeliacs following a gluten-free diet.
Although traditional East Asian cuisine had often used seaweed extract, which contains high concentrations of glutamic acid, it was not until 1907 that MSG was isolated by Kikunae Ikeda. MSG was subsequently patented by Ajinomoto Corporation of Japan in 1909. In its pure form, it appears as a white crystalline powder that, as a salt, dissociates into sodium cations and glutamate anions while dissolving (glutamate is the anionic form of glutamic acid).
There are health concerns about the use of monosodium glutamate in food, but few are scientifically supported.

i'm just slim and a handsome devil of a man cem ::) ;D ;D ;D

MSG, not very nice stuff especially for myself. I have an allergic reaction (if that's the right term) to it.
If i eat enough of it, i will suffer from nose bleeds, head aches, I can't concentrate on tasks & worst of all i'm a Jekyll & Hyde. I'm embarrassed to say not a very nice person at all in my Hyde guise :-[ :-[
I keep away from it & i'm ok (though only some say) ;D ;D

Yup - MSG was, essentially, 'invented' in Asia - Wikipedia has more; but the modern MSG replaced traditional seaweed derived glutamic acid.
Essentially, they've been eating the stuff over in Asia in it's current form for over 100 years - and they don't seem to be dropping dead yet ;) Thus, I don't worry about MSG.. :)
And now I want a Chinese..

Like aaronjb says, it has been consumed in the far east for well over a hundred years and their population is noted for longevity. Most of that though is down to a good diet and excercise with the addition of a work ethic which they believe is their duty to do.
In itself MSG will not burn calories or in any other way shape or form stop anyone getting fat by its addition to food. Its sole use is as a flavour enhancer because the lesser quality types of food can be made to appear as flavoursome and more palatable. Why it has been banned in this country I have no idea but I still get it and use it and have never had any side effects. Bit like salt really, its bad for you too and eventually I think some wally do-gooder will ban that outright too. After all, what else can the public servant do for us apart from make our lives more miserable? ::)

::)
those chinese with empty/tiny wallets dont have the money to buy and eat several burgers and pizzas at a time.. so not under risk.. itself may not be that harmful directly but consuming it with lots of ready high calorific food have deadly consequences..
dont tell me , being fat is healthy now ;D ;D

Why do I keep thinking of Michael Schenker Group?

its slowly filling your arteries with unsaturated fat and killing you .. go shop some veggie and cook a soup :y
ps: chop the pieces small ,let it boil for an hour and also buy some fresh real bread..(you can add some wine also)
pps: when the soup becomes a bit warm (not boiling) add 1 egg and mix quickly.. (if wine not used)

I personally, like to cook myself.. (although wife dont like the kitchen to be in disaster after ;D)

My attitude to cooking is more akin to "I would rather chop off my own arm than.." ;) I hate it with a passion..

Yeah - I have a very limited 'range' ;D I can do a couple of dishes well, a few poorly and everything else I've attempted (even following recipes) seems to come out as inedible swill..
If I ever get married, I hope she's a really good cook ;D

in my family all men can cook , except my father ;D
however , as years go by my mother start to give up for cooking (also for health reasons) and most times forget and burn, so whenever there are good materials I decided to do myself ;D
unfortunately my first wife didnt like cooking and she really wasted expensive stuff.. so instead of becoming angry and hungry ;D I started to do myself if I had time.. later I got divorced and from that time I learned very well by practice.. ;D
honestly I never believe the cookers outside are enough sensitive about cleaning and I have seen very bad examples.. few times poisoned.. so I rarely eat outside..
now my wife is a good cooker and rarely I need to do something.. however still sometimes I do cook when I feel I want.. :)
