anyone prefer the meals from the 70s to the ones of today. we always had mince stews and pie mash and liquer for dinners, suet puddings and deep fried chips in lard. but desserts were always bread pudding and bread and butter pudding, cherry pie and custard and the one thing that made me cringe. Rhubarb, just one look of it used to make me throw up, the same as apple pie. :)

I still prefer good old fashioned British style food to any modern/imported style food which seems more popular nowadays.
Cant beat a properly cooked roast beef sunday lunch, and a hot pudding (like home baked apple crumble for example)smothered with fresh cream. :y
Curry/Tapas/chow mein - stick it up your chuffer as far as Im concerned. :D ;D

Still eat fresh veg and salad from the garden here, and meat from the local farm shop. Proper food Richie. :y

I only really miss a few things..
1) Stew and dumplings - proper suet dumplings.
2) Proper rhubarb crumble, or apple crumble
3) erm..
Come to think of it, I know what modern cooking is missing.
FAT. Proper honest fat. Like suet and butter (in the crumbles) ;) (There, that should make Cem start twitching ;D)

so you are not on bread and water then?

How about a proper steak and ale pudding, served out of the cloth it was steamed in, along with a big pile of vegetables and mash? A proper winter dinner, although I wouldn't want it too often.

I start to feel hungry ;D

Ah Sunday roasts. Beef ribs, sirloin. I remember it well.
Apple pie and cream for pud, lovely. Richie you need to join a pudding club.http://www.puddingclub.com/
Nowt wrong with tapas though. There are only a few provinces left in Spain where you get them free with your drink, Granada is thankfully one of them. A very civilised way of spending an evening.
Nearest I ever came to that in England was a pub in West Birmingham that served real ale and BBQ meat all year. So you could have a pint of Madmans and a pork chop.

We normally eat proper, home cooked food due to the food allergies :y
I like the change and modern stuff (especially curry) but can't beat a real dinner :y :y
