Post by: TheBoy on 21 September 2011, 07:28:55

And, yup, living up to it's name as the Chiltern Slug

Yup.... thats the stock from Wrexham & Shropshire? Loco hauled?

If they let it, they will go faster than the fancy onces with leccy doors  ;)

Faster? Yes, probably, but in true Chiltern Slug tradition, it was late into Marylebone. Bloody trains never on time :(

I'd rather be late & have a seat on Chiltern, than be on time on First Great self-abusers Western....

I probably would have been... Rarely get the train for exactly that reason ;)

Fortunately I have several underground stations with decent car parking options on the Northern side of London. Failing that I'll drive in and park at either Euston/Paddington. £18 for the day at last check ::) Although the spaces are a little too small for my liking

I used to like the Chiltern Railway. But then I used to travel off-peak and was never in much of a hurry.

I was down south last year and experianced a First Group Pacer I thought it was the Indian railway I was on.
It seems this company don't give a monkeys about you poor soles down south as if they ran those things up here they would get torched at night in the depots.
I seems they only buy new stock for scotrail, well they are from sheep sh***n country(North of Dundee :-X)

Chiltern are actually quite good, they are sometimes late, but never more than a couple of minutes. In two years of using them, the only delay of more than 15 mins was due to fire at signal box in London.

First Great Western London area, are in a bit of a pickle, they are waiting for the Electrification of the line, so they can put new stock on, but their contract expires around time of this completing, with no guarantee they can run line afterwards, with a bit of luck they will pull out!

Chiltern's wifi is shite too. Still, at least this train has it.

It was Wrexhams install, not Chiltern ;)

If it is late, won't be more than 5 mins  :)

Just googled it, why have they bought more of those crappy 172 units  :(

Only bought 4 x 2 car trains too, not as good as they were making out  :-/

Terrible idea - nobody on here likes beer.  Or trains.  Or good food.   ;D

What size of group would we need?  Ballpark costs?  I'm drooling already (what's new, I hear you say  :) ).
