Do you fancy either of these?
http://www.lakedistrictcamping.co.uk/campsites/northeast/quiet_site.htm
or
http://www.lakedistrictcamping.co.uk/campsites/northeast/side_farm.htm
-
TB will vote Side Farm no doubt as they don't list Pikey Wagons as being allowed (only Tents)
-
As a "Tin Tenter" ... top one (quiet site) gets my vote .. :), looks a nice site :y :y - won't be quiet for long with us there !!!
:D :D :D
-
The 'quiet' site seems to have more facilities, including a bar, perhaps useful if the weather is a tad damp :y
But i dont mind either........ :y
-
I don't mind which ;)
Need to get something planned and dates though :y
-
Committed to York and Newent, I may struggle to find the time for this one now :'(
That said, if it falls on a date I can make, I would try to pop up, if even just for 1 night (which would mean the little tent)
-
We caravaned in a site opposite The Quiet Site (15?) years ago. It looked a very nice site.

Stayed in the big one the other side of Ullswater before (the one on the road that doesn't really go anywhere) many, many, many years ago....

That's another one to consider http://www.parkfootullswater.co.uk/panoramas.html

The last one might not want us ...... :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
In welcoming specifically "family campers & couples" to Park Foot it follows that there are some campers that we are unable to accept. We realise that different people have different holiday requirements and simply acknowledge that we cannot be "all things to all people" without compromising the service that we offer. We therefore do not accept single-sex groups and none family bookings.
Schools and organised groups are welcome and must be booked in advance.
At the owner's discretion parties may be asked to pay a noise deposit of £10 per person on arrival in cash. Out of consideration for those with young families, we ask that there is no noise please after midnight.
-
Think the first one is probabaly the best bet :y

Dropped by there last year, big signs up everywhere about noise etc, so doubt we'd be welcome tbh....

The first one has a noise clause too GROUP CAMPING allowed with "Noise Deposit" :-X

Newent is established & York fast becoming so. Lakes was the original OOF meet (as i remember) & worthy of it's place. Given that York is early in the year & Newent is towards the end if we can't arrange anything this year maybe we should look ahead to Lakes 2010 at the height of the summer smack between the two? Gives time to scource a suitable venue & we then have 3 good meets equally spaced timewise & geographically to suit all regarding cost, time off work etc.
Just my thoughts, Guy. :y

Getting a bit worried here, it is looking like this is dying a slow death, or have I missed something....... :-/

Looks like it's gathering dust so in the absence of any further site choices I've Emailed both campsites, outlined who we are and that we may work on some cars, tidily of course, and asked for any dates fee from May to September.
I'll let you know when I get a response :y
-
Go visiting in the tank, I'm sure they'll see things your way then. ;D
-
Blackballed from the Quiet Site - reply came with - we cannot allow work on cars on site :'(
No reply from the other site yet :-/
-
Side Farm is a lovely spot (on the cover of Cool Camping) but not very horizontal, so not brilliant for car work. Wouldn't put me off though.

Just got a no, sorry we're too small to accommodate you reply.
So that reduces the current options list to ..err...none :-X
I'll begin the search again........

Here's hoping... :y

I stayed in Eskdale Green a year or two back and remember a large camp site there. Lots of groups of people sitting round fires in the evening, etc. Just by the station on the Ravenglasss railway. It might be worth a try. A little further from the motorways but via entertaining roads ::). Unless you're towing.
It also might well be that the thought of people working on cars is worse than the reality so maybe worth not mentioning this and playing it by ear when there? I personally don't see this as a particularly important requirement.

And me, couldn't make last year :'(
-
Just a thought, would it be worth a meet, for fun, even if we could not fix cars?????
-
I'll widen the net and see if anyone can accommodate a large group.
Tents don't seem to be a problem but it's hard to find a mixed site with electric for tents and space for vans.
Just been to the new 007 exhibition today in Keswick, DB5, Lotus(s) tank, planes, hovercraft, helicopter, jet bikes ................. fantastic :y

I've been to Millom 3 times this week!!!!!! :D

To be honest, it doesn't surprise me, that campsites are reluctant to allow work on cars to occur on their sites.
The said campsites may have concerns their sites will be churned up, or concerns that oil will be spilled, or ATF, or antifreeze, etc and thus present a hazard to other campers, children, animals, and so on..
Not saying we would do that - but they don't know the group to a great degree, so cant' blame them for thinking it...
For a family out camping, it would be a really odd site to see a campsite full of cars up in the air and blokes stood in and around them drinking beer ;D
-
I am inclined to agree James.
But is the 'work on cars' thing a big deal for us on these meets? I would certainly be up for going to the Lakes/Newent etc regardless of the car work possibilities (as long as they don't have a problem with Bob's bbq.. ;))

I agree, as said, even just a social meet would be nice :y
-
Has the Lake's died a death then :question :( :(
-
Any chance of this happening then................... :'( :'(
-
Next year probably, sure Chopsdad will pull his finger out :y
-
