There was talk of a ride up to Scotland, meeting up with Hotel21 who will show us the lovely roads of the Highlands :y
Anyone up for this?
-
I was going to post this up, but got side tracked :-[
I am up for this, some stunning roads around his way :) - I am also keen to get H21's input on my riding. (for those that don't know H21 is police trained)
For me, i would have to stop at least once on the run up, maybe twice. Doing run to Isle of Man in June on the bike, so see how that goes!
Notice quite a few members here have bikes, maybe meet up along the way? :-/
-
You will need to stop a couple of times Tunnie to refuel :y
Don't fancy keep stopping off for a night here and there though if thats what you mean. I would prefer to get up Scotland and pitch tents up their. ;)
-
Your Fizzie will never keep up with yer Dad's steed, and you'll be knackered with all the pedalling. ;D
-
Potentially up for it :y
-
don't think i can do Brackley to Fife in single day, not on the bike, not yet anyway! I'd half to stop halfway for the night, i'd personally be tempted to stop in Yorkshire Dales someware, then carry on up to Fife

Daz could always tie a rope on the back of Tunnies bike and get a tow up there :D

Had to google DLK's bike:
The Yamaha FS1-E (originally FS1) was the definitive UK 1970s sports moped. The un-restricted form of this machine was capable of up to 50 mph (80 km/h)
Engine: Two Stroke single cylinder 4.8 bhp (3.6 kW) rotary disc valve induction, 4 gears
;D ;D ;D

There's a boy who doesn't understand that the fizzy was the moped to have in the 1970s. And worth a friggin fortune now

Oh, and I think he has a Thunderbird now, that will make mincemeat of your heavy, sluggish, hopeless wannabe harley....

I don't get any aches or pains like i do from sports bikes, body & neck gets tired. :-[
-
I tried to start mine last night (first time in months) .... it wouldn't play :'( still wouldn't play this evening after I got home from work either. :(
-
looking at the weather, i am going to take the beemer out tomorrow, rude not to 8-)
-
I was toying with taking the kwaka over to Oxford tonight, but decided against it for 4 reasons:
a) my back is still killing me :-[
b) too much junk to take over tonight - her dad's repaired laptop, assorted other computer bits, and Mrs TB needs to take a load of craft stuff over.
c) MV6 should be getting its filler sorted (so I don't have to keep removing numberplate when I fill up)
d) too many Omega bits scattered all over and around bike to get it out of the garage!

what about today?

what about today?
Strange concept I know, but some of us are surfing OOF working ;)
In fairness, I'm stuck on a *REALLY* boring conf call that they won't let me leave, even though the fault lies with their stuff

Anyone up for this?
If you dont fancy camping, rough or otherwise, how about this place?
http://www.clova.com/scottish-bunkhouse.cfm
prices....
http://www.clova.com/accommodation-prices.cfm
Lots of good roads nearby, good basis for a weekend.
If you want a 'wooden' tent there is access to a large double garage size hut about another 5 miles along a dead end track up Glen Clova. Cold water to wash/drink in the nearby burn, crap in a tin, take your rubbish home with you type accomodation?
Bunkhouse has good hotel right next door with bar and real ales etc.......

How come '4-Poster' is cheaper than single room? :-/
Still good prices, and think i would go for that rather than camping :)
Going to throw a date out there how about weekend 29th May? Thats a bank Holiday weekend?

Ooooo! Shame about the weather (I am a fair weather biker :-[) - I find my 1989 ZX10 a bit too much of a handful in the wet (it ain't that great in the dry ;D) :-[
-
Ahh Zx9 (C1 ? ), same colour too. Fond memorys.
-
I could be up for this dependent on date. Hope you all don't mind mine being from Japan. Did you have a location in Scotty land in mind 8-)

Bumpy bumpy seens this was mentioned last night :o
I may come along for this one too, aslong as you guys don't mind me filling up every 100 miles ;D
-
so where do people want to go? Scotland or Wales? I'll prob need to do this within next month as funds are going to be limited soon.
-
I don,t mind either.. Scotland sounds good to me as the views are excellent, plus Hotel21 is willing to pass a few pointers to us all ;)
Wales also sounds good :y
Think we should get something sorted though before the snow comes along ;D
-
i am on weekends for rest of this month, can people do mid-week? Guessing not :(

I think it would be better at a weekend mate :y either a day thing or a weekend suits me when we take a tent etc...
Perhaps a Friday afternoon/teatime do a few miles then pitch up somewhere, beers, food, sleep then Saturday off again :y
Bit like one of the Meets...
Next month maybe better then? the children are off school too :y

I'm actually considering a spontaneous trip to Wales tomorrow since weather looks good, try out some camping gear i have too!
Only weekend in July i can do is 17/18th, i also have Friday off.
Shall we say North Wales on 17 & 18th?

The 17th I can't make until late afternoon mate :( can make the 18th so for me the following weekend would be better :y

Errr nope, i get the feeling we will be going around in circles on dates :-/
Best this month for me is the 17th/18th of July, after that i can do 21/22nd August. I would probably camp if we go to Wales :y
-

Due to distance i will be camping, but i guess since most bikes have trouble carrying a packet of cigarettes, everyone else will want to B&B :-/ :(
-
Tunnie.......
Visit abergavenny (good bikers meet on a sunday) or similar, stuff the camping, and come and use my spare room.....
Aber is only about 3/4 an hour or less from me!!
-
Breacon beacons is next on my list for wales :y

Then you've simply got to visit Abergavenny lad! :y
Brilliant bikers gatherings alongside the bus station, and excellent grub/tea-shack there too. ;)
Sixstring's dead right on this one! :y
