We had an Essex meet last year - April iirc - at the shoulder of mutton, Aldham. it was quite a pleasant day,we even had 2 of the admins  who made the journey, so hopefully Johnnycboy will organise another next spring. :y

Don't think he remembers much about the day and certainly not the evening - passed out on the kitchen floor as I recall!! ;D ;D Poor Karen and the kids had to entertain me on their own. ::)

I'm sure John will organise something in the next few months but I know he's had/got a lot on his plate at the moment ;)

Anyone else want to take over organising?

Not much point me organising as there is a good chance I will be working when it happens. Having said that, if people are happy to have it at the same place - iirc the landlord was more than happy to have us, so its just a matter of agreeing a date (via a poll) and then turning up on the agreed day. :y
I dont mind calling in as Im passing and double checking things with the landlord.

Be a good idea to make a courtesy call ;) ;)

I would suggest we leave it till April time in hope that the weather improves :y

Although I'm working most weekends in April :(

Next time Im passing I will call in and have a word with him. Check if there are any weekends which arent suitable etc.
Unless JCB pops up in the meantime, and wants to do it. I wouldnt want to "jump in" so to speak, and he did a good job of sorting it last year. :y

Its quite a nice spot Kevin. And only 5 minutes from home for me - which makes it even nicer.
There is also the Chappel steam railway/ museum a mile up the road.

Yup, I'll be there!

Does the Landlord mind people getting the spanners out?
(Any one available to help me with my drop links?)

Don't remember the LPG thing at all! Lots of driving of different cars though (thanks Bob!)

Bring it on!

I dont think it would go down too well if there were dismantled cars and oil spread around the car park, but I cant imagine anyone is going to notice a pair of droplinks being changed on a car with a few other cars parked around/in front of it. ;)

I imagine you're right, that was why I was wondering........

As/when date is decided then I'll start asking if people can help.
However, if Landlord is not happy with any sort of spanner weilding, (however low-key) fair enough!

As I said earlier - bring it on! :) :y

If the worst comes to the worst Matt, there is a huge public car park/shopping centre 5 minutes away. Im sure a bit of "emergency" spanner twirling could take place there.
Cant see it being a big problem though tbh. If its only one job on one car, one wheel off at a time - as long as everyone doesnt get inspired and start changing ATF etc in the car park. ;)

It would be appreciated if you could pop in the pub and double check with the guvnor. :y

I've had/got a lot going on recently with health issues but I will arrange another meet if you all want me too, I will try and arrange it around the same time as last year.  If you can let me know the landlords ok with it then I will get some dates on the boil 8-)

Any updates yet Mr A? Not to worry though! ;)

Date I propose is Saturday 24 April - same venue as last year.  Venue is http://www.shepherdneame.co.uk/pub/aldham/shoulder-of-mutton.aspx

Already spoke to the barman, he remembered us and said they would stay open through the afternoon on this date, they normally close for a couple of hours in the afternoon.

And for all you patriots this is St Georges Day, another reason for a socialable drink.  Not that I need a reason. :)

So if you would like to join me and Mrs JCB on this date, we will see you there. :y

You know me & SWMBO are in. 8-) 8-)

But I see where you are coming from ;) - would be nice to start some sort of list of who thinks they would be attending, so we have an idea.  Don't really matter as the venue looks like it has a lot of parking 8-) 8-)

i'm sure Johnny C Boy will let us know about start time etc. in the next 2/3 weeks  :question :question

As I did not go last year :-[ :-[ : -  approx how many attended?

The pub has a nice big car park... Last year we all started arriving from opening time onwards ::) And I think we'd all moved on by about 5 :y

Doesn't really matter about a confirmed list for this one as it's a social occasion at a pub, no accommodation or food to arrange (just order and pay on the day if you want to eat) :y

But for the record, myself and SWMBO will be along, unless something else crops up ;) I've already cancelled the day out in London I was meant to be on :y :y

Guy/girls as LD said pub doors open midday, not going to bother with a confirmed list as it's just a social event.  As for last year there was about 20 of us from memory (and my memory ain't too good after one pint) including other halfs, plus two admin as well which was a pleasant surprise.  So no need to be shy just turn up. Date again 23rd April 12 p.m.

See you there :y

A good skinful in the local pub was often followed by a molotov cocktail through the window of said pub when I was a yoof.
It was all in good fun, no real harm intended, but they didnt take too kindly to it in the little villages in North Essex.
Some folk just take life too seriously imo, dont know how to have a good time.. ::) :D

If anyone else wants me to bring parts to the meet, please try to let me know asap. I dont have much time away from work between now and then, so time for stripping bits off the car is quite limited. :y

Should be 18 Miggyists plus friends/family if everyone turns up. :)

Guess someone to just drive, I should be able to do - can't seem to do alone, as all looks good for 5m or so, then suddenly the trims go ape

Additionally, banks look mismatched at some speeds, but difficult to look at injector times and the road ahead at some speeds

Anyone going to the Essex meet tomorrow got 12v to 230/240 inverter That I could use for a short time at the meet.

Only 80watts draw ,so quite low.  Just thought I might take a guitar for a twang for half hour as it's a social meet :D :D :D :D. Only battery Amplifier I have is a little 2 watt Marshall  - sounds sh*t --

I've got a small practice amp but it needs mains juice ;D ;D ;D

3 things

1) I thought I had broken my LPG already, didn't dare ring the cripple, as I knew he'd be cross!
2) I wanted to join in the fun anyway, but Mrs TheBoy said "No" in that certain tone
3) Somebody earlier mentioned that the pedal was analogue, so I was proving to myself that it didn't need to be fully depressed. After the M1 roadworks, realised my previous method was far better ::)

And thanks for a great day. The 2nd venue in particular was really good.

S'pose I should say a special thanks to the cripple for (re)calibrating the LPG, even if I might have broken it before getting off the A12 ::)

May well do... Download AC 7.whatever it is and disable it after another day or so... That should give a good time for it to learn :y Don't touch anything else though! ::) ;D

Other thing it may be is the over-pressure relief thing but we'll check one at a time ;)

Well I'm finally alive again :D many thanks to you all who came for making it a real good day :y
It was nice to see some old and new faces and it was a pleasure meeting you all :)  people came from far and wide and that shows the spirit of OOF 8-) is still very much alive and for that I thank you all ;)

I apologise for the move earlier in the day and hope that everyone was accounted for when we did move on to the 2nd venue which was a damn site better than the 1st one. The landlord made us about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit >:(

Anyway all good things happen for a reason and the 2nd venue will certainly be a good choice for a possible meet in the future. :y

And lastly I would like to thank two special people in my life one being my wife who I say puts up with a load of my crap when I'm enjoying myself :y and mrs LD for her succession of famous chocolate brownies she always brings with her. 8-)

Duggs & I were trying to get to the bottom of the early facelift Elites being lowered sports chassis theory. To be quite honest there is not much difference in any of the cars we measured. MV6 or elite. But before I changed my rear springs - my car was 20mm higher than anything we measured on the day. Sits nice now though. ;) ;) ;)
