Last night the Elite died on me after climbing a hill.
threw a code 19 - so I assumed crank sensor.
Gen GM part fitted this morning. Still no joy, won't run.
Some traces of mayonnaise on the dipstick
Coolant tank STINKS of petrol
When turning the engine over, water spurts out of coolant tank like waterfall.
When turning over with the coolant cap fitted - pressure is humongous, and it will come out under crazy pressure when cap is removed.
(this is just turning on starter, it won't run).
It makes no attempt whatsoever to start - just whizzes over like it's got no compression....

if it wasnt for bad luck, you wouldnt have any luck at all!

2 going at the same time......some thing in common?

Like what?
Both totally different failures :-/
The Elite has done thousands of sucesfull miles, before this happened, so I can't imagine it's anything I've done?

Have you broken my Car?, your not having a very good day are you. Think if that was me I'll be down the Pub by now. :'(
Ps. Can we cancel the Cam Belt job on my MV6, sorry, only joking, bad taste and all that.

Not bad taste at all - the cambelt joke made me laugh ;D
If it happened just after the work, I'd have been doubting myself - however it's done over 3k since I did the HG, all trouble free - so I'm quite confident it wasn't incorrectly fitted :y

Should have read this one before posting in the other thread ::) ::) ::) ::)
I can't believe your luck... 2 cars in as many days :o :o :o

2 of them :o :o :o :o :o
Definetly not your day :-/
Still though, now you have one with a freshly rebuilt top end and one with no hole in the block ::)
1/2 +1/2=1 :y

Yea but its the + bit that's a problem, Half of one is a 3.0 the other half is a 2.5.
So, 3.0 + 2.5 = 2.75 V6 :y

I think you may be more unlucky than me,for various reasons mine has had 4 different rads in about 8 weeks,on Monday I was underneath it after having driven about 15 miles, tugging on bolt with spanner, spanner slipped and snapped pipe of the rad, nearside pipe to aux.coolant pump(I think thats what its called)as the coolant was still under pressure and very hot it sprayed all over my arms,so I spent the next 4 hours kneeling over a cold bath with my arms dipped in,too painful to take them out.I know a bit of pain never hurt anyone but christ this is pretty close, left wrist blistered to break, right armblistered and red from elbow to shoulder,my own stupid fault though so cant complain. ::)
Got another rad from the scrappy yesterday, fitted it today before coming to work, top union for gearbox cooler pissing out ATF,not sure yet if its the union/bolt/or just the copper washer too compressed, ran out of time so job resumes tomorrow. :(

I'll see your radiator problems and I'll raise you
changing a blown engine only to find that the replacement is knackered in need of new piston rings and two pistons. Juggling work/collage/rebuilding top and bottem ends. Then when engine is fixed, bang goes the flywheel so out with the gearbox again .Phew ;D
-
Still think my rads + blisters beats your blown 4 pot. :y ;D ;D
