Title: Zafira DBW Revvs Sticking
Post by: MutantCav on 27 June 2009, 00:22:11
Just got a 53 Zafira which I understand are DBW...generally all round great but on accelerating it seems sometimes to over revv (continue going for a short while after removing foot from pedal) or stick momentarily just under the 1000rpm point on its way back down...

Now I dont know much about DBW at all, any thoughts on what could be causing this, or anyone had anything similar on a DBW Omega??

Ok filled up with gas today as it was empty so not had a chance to see how it was running on it...the revvs sticking is far more noticable on gas, and on occasion it kinda stuck for a short time and then jumped down...really far more annoying on gas than on petrol...

Then the EML came on, checked it out and theres a present P100 code MAF sensor low voltage...voltage on MAF is reading 0.06v!!!

Could a dodgy MAF be causing the DBW system to over compensate?? Or still think its throttle body?? Anyone know where the throttle body is on the 1.8 XE engine as I'm only really used to non DBW v6 engines  ::)

Another thing is that on petrol its idling a little lumpy at about 750rpm, on gas smooth as at about 1050rpm...

As far as the drive itself this problem aside it runs really well on both and at £27 to fill the tank up with 54 litres whose complaining lol

What is the engine number....X18 XE1?

Note, the above is not drive by wire

Z18XE is DBW, IIRC.

Body is under the air intake pipe!  :y

Got some Wynns carb cleaner today, gave the throttle body a good spray as was certainly not clean, helped but didnt cure the problem...

Could still hear an annoying hissing from the bay that I had noticed on and off...you guessed it, airpipe had come off, connected back on and job done...idles perfectly at 750rpm on gas and petrol now...

Will give it a proper test run tomorrow and double check but seems to have done the trick...thanks for your help :y

Glad it's sorted with a simple fix.

Still take that body off and clean it out though...

Certainly will do...easy enough to get to and looks to be held on by 4 bolts...
