Title: which? roof bars /roof rack for Estate
Post by: dippydave on 29 June 2009, 16:20:17
Not sure whether this is a parts request or simply a discussion starter....

Basically I want some roof bars for my estate and wondered who might have advice and tips on which make/model etc to buy. I got confused in Halfrauds... :-/

Simple/fast fixing is best for me! Will be a whole lot better than unistrut and cable ties.  ;D

It's mostly for carrying ladders, sheets of timber/plasterboard etc.

thankin you  8-) 8-)

I went to a place in Stone to get my roofbars and roofbox and they were really fair with their prices, also showed me how to fit it :o

Been sat around for a couple of years unused, and only used twice, when went on a two week tour around Scotland and a week in anglia, they do the job, nothing wrong with them :y

Get Thule, Montblanc, original Vauxhall items, or similar from e-bay.
I have even used original Mazda bars on Omega in the past - they did the job but eventually changed to Thule due to the fact that the box is of the same make. This manufacturer enables you to use one key for all carriers that you have (eg. bike rack, box, skiboard rack, bars etc). Don't know if others do the same though.

Good grief, are they worth that much, I have a pair in the garage, just going to check make, but are Omega specific, I think.  Only used once, for a Christmas tree. ::)
