Title: Exhaust - waxoyl or similar?
Post by: GastronomicKleptomaniac on 10 July 2009, 21:29:38
Daft question, but y'know, it is me.

Got my eternalcar system today, and before I fit it, I was pondering... is it worth putting Waxoyl, or similar around it, to hold off corrosion? I considered the thick paste wax I use on everything else, but figured it'd just melt and smell funky...

What ever you put on/in your exhaust that is oil based will burn off. If you're wanting to treat the outer side, then i suggest a exhaust/manifold style paint.

Waxoyl has a high alcohol content I.E. methynol, put it on your zorst, start her up and watch her burn!!!  :o I restore Morris Minors and love Waxoyl but I never fit the zorst till the underside is oyled. I've seen a very carefully restored 1956 Minor burning due to waxoyl, very upsetting.
