Glad to report my 2.2 is back in action, with a shinny new flexi join on :D
Big thanks must go to MarkDTM for cutting the old one off and welding on the replacement, and for the interesting lesson in the art of welding, i owe you a lot of beer :y
It runs super silent now, only slight problem is when the exhaust got hot after the main cat turn, it sometimes hits the heat sheild causing a vibration on first few revs from idle. so will 'adjust' the heatshield once its all cooled down.
Must say its good to be back in a manual saloon, even though the estate had a lot more power, i find the Elite estates wallow around too much, and with pattern exhausts don't sound great.
Was good fun putting my saloon back in the twisties :)

Good suff mate, glad it's sorted :y

You ever driven a classic Rangie, Tunnie? ;D :y
In all seriousness, I agree - the MV6 was much better handling than my previous Elite...

Good, glad you managed to summon up the strength to lift it back on :y ;D

Amazingly i did! ;D
I lifted it up and managed to get the gearbox bracket bolt in a couple of turns, with that weight taken i fed the down pipe up to the studs, slotted it on, it held, managed to get 1 on by hand from above, then all rest from underneath. Even managed to torque them up :o
Only thing as mentioned i think the replacement all in is a few mm shorter, causing it to knock slightly on the heatshield when the exhaust got hot, managed to wiggle it a bit and push heat sheild back a bit, hopefully thats enough :)
Thanks again :y

Blimey, Mummy allowed you to go under a car all alone :o
Seriously, good job :y
I too need to thank a certain Admin for a quick welding lesson - even though its gonna cost me a load of money ::). Thanks Mr DTM :y :y

That the difficulty is in setting up the machine, too hot, you burn though, too cold does not make the weld. And to 'push' the weld up in a zig zag motion ;) :y

and the correct wire feed. ;) ;) ;)
Anyone can weld with a MIG set ;D ...... TIG, MMA (stick to you ;) :y) & gas take a little longer to learn. :y :y :y

I find gas easier....

Gas must be a dying art these days, with the cost of inverter TIG sets coming down to relatively small money TIG is the future! :y :y :y Plus you can weld stainless with TIG ;) ;) ;)

You can weld stainless with MIG.....very tempted by a TIG/MIG/plasma cutter combi for home use.

I would take the off-cast MIG off your hands ;)
I have some axle stands that need some feet to stop them sinking into the drive, could be some good practice :y
