Title: Would i be mad!!!!!!!!
Post by: unlucky mark mv6 on 14 July 2009, 18:21:54
If i swapped my car for a carlton gsi 3.0 manual on a g-plate,supposed to be a show car,has full stainless and history, also 4 new tyres, apparently totally faultless.Does anyone have any expeirience of these things, and i know they are rare now,and would probably struggle to get bits. ::)

I would say no you wouldn't be daft but then I have a soft spot for the GSi. On a G I assume it will be a 12v not 24v.

The guys on ABS seem to be doing ok for bits AFAIK. :y

In my younger years i had two of the 3.0 24v in manual and the only problem was rust.
The estate started smoking in the end, using loads of oil but in all honesty, it had nearly 200k on the clock.

I'd say- go for it :)

I think they changed from 12 to 24v on G so I wasn't sure. I had 1 12v manual and 3 24v, 1 auto and 2 manual. Great car. They did suffer from rust, particularly around the rear arches but really good drive.  :y

Suppose it is a bit of a step backwards,as i would lose all the luxeries of the mig, also i would be dropping a fair few years,so taking all that into consideration,i have decided to keep it,and get cracking on the manual conversion which i originally planned for it. :-/
