Citroen BX.   My recollection was needing to put more oil in it than fuel..

Wouldnt say any car I've had would be the worst.

Been happy with all of them at the time.

My mate had a BX and for months and months could not understand why it would wear tyres out in a few weeks.
Yep 2 cars welded together

A Mondeo; had it for three months, ugh, horrible, horrible!! Decided to resign from the company, for this reason amongst others!! ::) ::) :D :D :D ;)

Although I loved it, my first car was the worst in terms of mechanical and body work condition; a Farina bodied Austin A40 - it was literally falling apart with more rust than good metal!! :o :o ;D ;D ;D ;)

It would be a close thing between my first car,a HB Viva, and my Sierra 2.0gl.
The viva went through 4 gearboxes and 5 clutches in about 9 months, but this was at ;east partly due to the fact that I was a teenager,so moving off from a standstill invariably involved revving it until the valves were bouncing merrily and then slipping my foot off the side off the clutch pedal sharply to break the traction in the big 145x12 tyres. ::) ;D
you could also sit beside it for a while and watcg it rust away, but it was my 1st car and I do have some happy memories of it so the award must go to the Sierra.I had it for 8 years while the kids were growing up,didnt really have much interest in nice cars etc, just working every hour in the day and raising kids etc,the car was utterly reliable, never did a thing wrong, only changed the oil about once every 3 years but it was the most bland, dull, tedious contraption I have ever driven.Hearing aid Beige inside and out and the engine should have come with a ventolin inhaler as it was completely asthmatic, didnt matter how much stick you gave it,it just wouldnt revup and go.

Oh there have been so many. Hillman Imps - dreadful.

Viva HB with a misfire all the way round Europe, brakes burnt out in the Alps but the best was a

Mini. Bought it for £25 from a guy at Coalville. First roundabout I arrived at applied the anchors and found myself parked facing the kerb across the slow lane. The rear subframe was only held in place by the handbrake cables

I'm with you on this one!

However I had a Citroen C5, a car very similar to the Omega.....big, comfortable, loaded with goodies and a magic carpet ride.....but the electrics!  ::) This was the reason for getting rid....constantly going into limp home mode despite nothing physically wrong.....amazing how much it costs to find nothing physically wrong too btw.....and also the reason why I bought an OBD reader and kept it on board at all times....:y

Back in 96/97 I had a Ford Mondeo as a company car. To say it was Sh*te would be a compliment. The company I worked for at the time then made a shock announcement that our car policy was changing to a Vauxhall Only policy. The guy's with the Merc's and the Beemers were mighty p1ssed off but I got my first Omega. Fantastic. Never looked back  :y

Early Montego company car, one of the other guys described the gear selection as stirring a stick in a bucket of sh!t, spot on.

Close second was a Renault 16 that cost me 50 quid, owned it for a whole 2 weeks until my mechanic mate informed me it had a cracked chassis, I weighed it in at the scrappie and made 4 quid on the deal! What makes it stick in my mind was the awful column change gearbox, in the time I had it I never did find 4th gear.

Worst driven - Escrap van (the really bad chassis version)

car I hated the most was a Chrysler Alpine 1400, Sooooooooooo underpowered.

Most problematic car was a Brand New Astra GTE, put me off Vx for quite a while.

My dad bought a new Renault something or other about 20 years ago,he was driving along one day and the blu-tac or whatever they used to hold the drivers seat in place came unstuck and he ended up lying in the back looking at the headlining,he never did work out how he managed to get it stopped.French cars are to be avoided like BL cars used to be imo.

Has to be a Vauxhall Astra GTE 16V which had the most evil torque steer i have ever known ;D

2 Vauxhalls for me  :-[

Nova 1.2L, nothing inherently wrong with car, actually decent car (rust aside), just didn't get on with it

Belmont 1.8GLSi. Useless heap of shite. The first engine I had in it was fun, went like stink (only reason I bought it).  Only had it 3months, that was 3 months too long. Replaced it with a 2.0 GTE, which was, by comparison, a much much much better car

1998 Daewoo Nubira Estate, 2.0CDX.
My company gave me this to replace the slowest ever 1994 Astra est 1.7D, non turbo.
At first I thought, wayhay, 2.0 petrol, air-con, leccy windows. God that was short lived.
Car was in the garage EVERY two weeks. Mainly front suspension creaks which after several lower arms they still couldn't erradicate.
Cambelt snapped at 57,000, was due at 63,000 I think? Car was off the road for almost 2 months because they couldn't get the parts. Picked it up on a Saturday, went again on the Thursday. They hadn't changed the jockey tensioner which was cracked.
I ended up having a stand up argument with the service manager where he threatened me, I then got him sacked. That'll learn him!!!
Other than that, i've been pretty lucky. Had a 94 Rover 214SLi which could have been a real pain if you believe the hype, but I took it to 155,000 miles and only had a h/gasket and alternator in that time.

In terms or opinion on the car it would be the Kia Shuma i had before the mig. Nasty thing, put together by monkeys and made of cardboard i swear. Never forgave myself for buying a 1.6 petrol...faster acceleration on my diesel mig.
In terms of reliability i have to say the worse is this Omega. definatly didnt buy a good one and in its age and mileage it keeps falling apart. But i love it, more than nay other ive had lol

Difficult choice...... and the first is embarrassing  [smiley=tongue.gif]

Reliant Robin. What? Im not whispering, I said Reliant Robin.

The front wheel swinging arm peeled off the box member, we ground to a sliding grinding halt after ploughing a nice furrow up the road.

Me and me mate reckoned it was maybe something to do with the tuned Hillman Imp engine we had squeezed in and the two breeze block counterweights. Loved to leave Mini Coopers standing, its all power to weight mates...  & we had no weight!

First choice has to be a Range Rover Vogue V6 petrol, the violent fuel consumption that meant you didnt worry about the non-working speedo-  just check the rate of descent on the fuel gauge! The 20 degree list to port didn't help confidence, but I gave up on the monster when both rear seat belt mounts pulled out from the arches in my hands  ;D ;D ;D

Edit: forgot that I traded the Rangy in for a Lada Niva 4x4 and thats another story.....

BTW sorry to mention the Robin here.

Best - Sunbeam Rapier H120 Holbay engine, twin webbers ( thats carburettors ) pillarless coupe with overdrive.  G reg.( thats a G at the end of the reg, not the front )circa 1969.

Worst - VW Passat Estate - 1.8 Turbo petrol, 1999 S reg, FSH 70k, absolute nightmare, needed a turbo, abs unit, alarm/body control unit and airbag part. Best ever MPG -  28, useless. Quoted £2600 + vat at a dealer to fix it. Had the warning light LED's disconnected and sent it to auction.
