Right I'm new to trailer & caravan towing, but I've recently bought a second hand Brink detachable towbar for one of my omega's.
The question's I have are.
1. Is there a plug socket on the omega which you can just plug in the towbar electrical loom, and if so can you buy the loom from vauxhall.
2. Is there a a standard electrical socket for towing caravans or if it a diffirent socket for towing a trailer.
If someone can please explain it to me as I would like to fit this towbar to my omega but I would like to tow both caravans and a flat bed car transporter.
Cheers Jim :y

There is a towing connector behind the plastic trim across the inside rear of the boot on a saloon. It's an odd connector. Possibly a loom available from Vauxhall but failing that just (solder and heat shrink) join to the wires here.
You may well need to fit a bulb failure sensor (or bridge the connections with a wire) to the brake light line before it works (location of sensor is behind the glove compartment on my car)..
You should have an audible or visible warning of trailer indicators working - either get a buzzer from a towing shop and install it in the boot where you make the connections to the loom, or change the flasher unit and add a bulb to the instrument panel.
The main (12N) towing connector only handles signal lights so is all you need to tow a trailer / caravan. If you want a supplementary (12S) connector to provide power to fridges, etc. you are probably better off running a suitably fused and rated wire from the battery although there is a feed rated at about 20 amps (IIRC) to the towing connector in the boot (may need to add a fuse in the fuse box to activate).
It's all been covered in the electrical section so a search should bring up all the details.

You may have to cut the rear skirt to fit a removeable towbar.

Don't think mine's been cut but you'd have to check with Broocie. I love removable towbars, if you're not using them you don't want to see them!!! :y 8-)
