They can be quite bad. My last one was a 93 Daimler Double Six, 6.0 V12 which some poor bugger paid over 50,000 for new, I got it in 99 and had to plate the passengerside floor for the MOT :(

Thats a brave move ;D They are pigs to restore and really are rust buckets topped off with a multitude of electrical issues :D My thoughts are with you 8-)

Nice car and hope it does you well, go the sort of history any decent owner would love!

However in the current climate, I would have thought a small car with a smaller engine would have been a safer bet! Unless of course you got a real bargain!

PS - Start buying shares in OPEC now!

Brother had a 1986 XJS V12 once. Cracking car!
Did around 12-14 around town but we did get nearly 22 on a very long run. It had no visible rust-as soon as he bought it we pumped it full of waxoyl using a compressor. He did eventually have a problem-the revs kept surging-changed auxiliary air valve and inlet manifolds-but couldn't get it perfect. With hindsight should have taken it to a specialist and splashed the cash. He sold it to my cousin. Reg number was B20 XJS.
