Title: hand brake adjustment

how much is involved adjusting it as my lever is right to the top now and is not holding well unless i am in park. ive forgot to tkae the brake off twice in the last week, too much on mind. i cant seem to find a link for it on maintenance guides.

If you have a long extension and a deep 13mm socket you might not have to take the heat shield off.

Its a bit tight but it does work.
done it yesterday as I renewed all my breaks and disks.
Dont do it like I did and wait till the exhaust is cool. :y

i would check your handbrake shoes first & adjust them accordingly, then the cable after that :y

I used that excellent guide of Mark's yesterday.  Cheers Mark.  :)

I found that a little ratchet spanner thingummy was just the job for the central adjuster. 

The real bonus (apart from having a working handbrake, and new pads on the disks), was when I found a generous collection of pea-sized pebbles between the heatshield and the floorpan...
No more horrible clattery rattles when going over anything other than mirror-smooth asphalt!  :y

you should slacken the central cable first (or check its slack already with the handbrake off)

i found rubble and 2 big rocks in my heat sheild this evening!
