Title: Vauxhall combo 1.7 Di issue's
Post by: Del Boy on 20 July 2009, 21:15:30
Yesterday was at a roundabout van jolted slightly, got home fuel light had only just come on so plenty of fuel in it, tried starting it up out the back of my house and it wouldn't start giving the impression of no fuel. Popped up the garage got a can of diesel started up fine after it was put in so just assumed was low on fuel.

Today went on a 50 mile trip, got another jolt when nearing home, popped down Vauxhall got a new fuel filter, hasn't done it since yet, any idea's if this could be anything more expensive like a fuel pump?

With the older 1700 low blow diesel, if the pump dies, it just dies and there's no return.  ;)

It's been fine for a week, driving down the motorway about 75 mph just cuts out absolutley nothing, got off at a junction, started it up then it just cut out again, waited 5 mins started it and it went fine held revs high as felt iffy, anyway it got me home but at junctions on the way home it was fine no issue's what so ever.
Any idea's cos' that ain't safe  :-/

Its possible its the pump ecu....they suffer the same bond wire issues as the Omega ABS ECU's

Would that give it the intermittant mucking around, what is that a new pump or separate to the pump where is it? Would this throw up any fault codes.

Just to add no lights come on the dash at all, e.g EML, spanner light and what not.

Anyone know about these fuel pump ECU's, can I get one from the scrappy? Because the RAC man said it's linked to your immobiliser, but if I can get one from the scrappy and it works i'll do it myself  :y

Get it repaired.

Common fault on all vehicles that use this off the shelf setup
