Vans that are good, Combo's, astra vans and transit connects looked at most of them, any other vans to look at under £3500 and later than 2005, nothing french or german. Any idea's?

I had a 2003 Vauxhall Combo 1.7 Di as a company vehicle. When I handed it back in 2006 with 99k on the clock it had only had routine servicing, tyres etc and no actual repairs/breakdowns and still drove like new. I would happily buy one if I needed a small van again. :y

Just sold my 53 combo 1.7 Di ;D
Would mind a newer one actually.

i have a connect. 03 90ps 220 swb. its hard on fuel compared to mayes 1.7 combo and goes better but he isnt 100kg over wieght all the time like me. if i drive like a granda i get 35mpg but if i drive normal for me i get 27. i wouldent like to see a combo with as much weight as mine and my van hides it well. it has never let me down and only thing ive replaced over runiing costs is a rad but i think its due a clutch soon. i cant complain about it as its drive hard and its never empty and the fuel isnt that bad when compared to other vans like mine that are heavy eg caddy. caddys are good but some issues with gearboxs. fuel good when empty and the best driving van of that size and the go like f**k especially when mapped!

See, connects there nice but they cost quite a big premium and 1.7 CDTi has more HP's than a connect too, only problem with connects other than the engines and cost premium is a lot of people say they're uncomfy, also if you have a passenger it's uncomfy for them too, dont know how true that is though.
Never found my combo uncomfy, and combo's seem better kitted unless you get an LX connect. I do like connects though they're nice looking vans, but I couldn't fault my combo :-/
-
I must say though the Di combo is slow 65HP is bad, does need the CDTi with the red T and I 110 BHP :y
O and my Combo did have 130k miles on it never had a problem other than fuel pump ECU which was £128 fitted. Still felt as new :y

I suppose it's what you want a van for that's the biggest consideration. Do you need payload, comfort, or just cheap and cheerful as transport from A to B. Why do you want a van? If you stick with Vauxhall as an example. You've got corsavan, i.e 3 door corsa with panels as windows, combo, astravan then you suddenly move up in size. Does it need to be a car derived van?

Don't know why I want one really just always had a van and a car, I like astra vans, vivaro's, primastars, trafics, movano's. Couldn't drive around in a corsa or fiesta van though too small. But a budget of 3.5k isn't going to get me bigger than combo/connect unless I want to go for older than 2003 and want later than 2005 ;D
Could spend more money but don't want a lot of cash strapped up in a van to be honest :-/
-
yep, the van is uncomfortable untill i put an armrest in it, now no problem. have driven 300miles in one hit on the southern rads no problem. drivetrain is just a focus but the balljoints etc are bigger. solid rear axle is great but i did have to add double leaf springs as i broke the firsts! as you can see i also have a lot of drag but thats the truck infulences ie lights bars etc. it is also dead but an air filter and egr blocked off helped. at the end of the day its a tool for a job.

Transit SWB low roof? The Metropolitan Police have a vast stock of these. Many are currently being sold at auction. '05' plates, seen at aucton selling from £2750 upwards. Sensible miles, in the 70's. They have side windows in the first panel back from drivers. Most are 2.0 diesels, some are the 2.4. If I wanted a van, wouldn't hesitate to get one of those. But might be a bit too big if you wanted a car derived van.

oh and it was a cat c when i got it, l/h rear corner.

WOMA, West Oxfordshire Motor Auction. They have fleet disposal from various forces. Lots from TVP and the Met. I'll tell you what, when I go to the next one. I'll note down mileage, condition and final selling price of the one's that go through and let you know exact prices to give you a better idea. Is that ok? There are many that go through, so doesn't matter if you don't make it to the next auction.
