I like them a lot, but early ones are riddled with problems that aren't cheap I heard  :-/

Early models were also built before Jaguar convinced Ford that they couldn't just chuck the spongey suspension from a Lincoln onto it and sell it in the UK, where the roads aren't all straight.  ;D

Mate of mine had an 02 model. Don't think it was entirely without trouble, which is worrying considering he bought it from new and had it for only 2 or 3 years but he liked it IIRC. A little quicker than a 3.0 Omega and with a 6 speed auto box but struck me as being a bit wallowy.

Interior was comfortable, IIRC but I wonder how well they wear with age. Exterior a bit "Hyacinth Bucket" for me but each to their own.

Yeah agreed a bit on the 'poncy' side on the inside. This one is low miles , full history but 9 years old. Seems like a good un but you never really know. :y

Good Vehicle - look and interior very much down to personal taste, especially the " shocked" front..

Reliability much improved from around `03 on and Jag dealers not as expensive as you think,  in my experience.

Now what you really want is the one with the little green "R" Badge. ( My next purchase  :y)

The new shape ones go for around 10-11k, and look stunning!

I know, have had a test drive  :D but its really the engine i want with minimum outlay so may go with STR to keep some funds for other projects....Fancy a supercharged Rangey as well to replace the current HSE.

That does seem a lot, even at mates rates. 6 months ago my father wanted rid of his 55 plate X Type Estate Diesel in met black with every concievable extra and only 33k. This I imagine is about the most desirable version out there. Noone offered over £6500 for it. One VW dealer offered just £4500 against a 3.0TDi Phaeton. ;D.

Must admit, if I had the cash i'd have had it. Gorgeous motor, never gave him an ounze of trouble and in my eyes, looked bloody lovely.

In fact, that reminds me. He looked at the last shape Skoda Superb. They wanted 15 grand for a car that was 6 months newer than the Jag with ten thousand more miles. Had a very nice 2.5 V6 Diesel under the bonnet and was huge, but they're price to change was a whopping 10 Grand. Who would have thought Skodas would be worth so much more than Jags ;D ;D
