Doing my normal Friday night stint on the decks at my local pub on Friday night, had too many beers to drive so left my car in pub car park overnight. Went to pick it up on Saturday and found this done......

Thinking some bugger had done a hit and run, I got the pub landlord to go through the CCTV and sure enough recognised the culprit. Turned out to be someone I know quite well, so got in contact and he he was profusely apologetic and said he hadn't realised he had hit my car (fairly feasable as it was a large van and dark when he left). Anyway, he came round to my house yesterday and got it all sorted with his insurance. Just waiting for the repair centre to contact me now and they are providing a courtesy car while repairs are being done. My only worry is if my Irmscher bumper/spoiler needs replacing (which I think it will) that they will be able to source one. :-/
-
Bob that breaks my heart - such a lovely car, at least you got to the bottom of how the damage was caused, let's hope the bumper can be saved :y :y
-
Hard to bear Bob, so sorry.
least its progressing the right way, hope the parts arent a problem
-
what a shame bob, at least your on the road to getting it sorted out.
-
sorry to hear/see that..I hope they will repair properly :-/
-
I know how annoying that is, but at least you know who did it, imagine if there was no CCTV.

From what I can see in the pics, that can easily be repaired.

I guess it's possible they may be able to repair and respray it. I know they're not easy to get hold of these days and would be a shame if a standard one had to be fitted. :(

I've never looked for a similar bumper, but I would think by now they'd be nigh on impossible to get hold of new. I'd be inclined to meet the insurers half way & accept a repair to it if needs be. They'll be able to see that the before accident state of the car was excellent.
Insurers did similar for a Granada estate my Dad had years ago when the recovery van infront of my Dad stopped ..... & my Dad didn't! :-? :-? :y

If its not damaged structurally then its very repairable :y

My car is covered on our company fleet insurance. When it was first put on the policy I advised our broker that the car had body mods, tinted glass and non-standard alloys so the insurance company would/should have been made aware. When I reported the claim this morning they asked me if there were any body mods and I confirmed there was and they seemed to be quite happy about it. Mind you, it won't be our insurers coughing up, it will be the van owners. ;)

To be honest Bob as you where not in the Car I would have got an Insurance Asseser to deal with the Van Insurance claim and not tell your Insurance Co, probably a bit late now if you have already spoke to them.

Yeah that did cross my mind and I do wonder if he may have had a few too many beers and didn't want to do anything that might have involved the police. :-/
He's actually a really nice bloke and I've known him for many years but that doesn't excuse him from leaving the scene of an accident or possibly drink driving. At least he's gone out of his way to get it sorted out now and even insisted on having a night out at his expense sometime.
The good thing is that the pub has excellent all round colour CCTV so there's no way he would have got away with it and I'm sure he would have been aware of that.
-
Sorry to hear about that, Its heart breaking when stuff like this happens to your pride & joy. Hope they make a good job of the repairs. I did find an irmscher bumber but they aint cheap! Hopefully yours will be repairable

:o
He can't know you that well Bob, thats going to cost him more than the car repair and the possibilty of a sore bum in the morning ;D
-
That's a real shame Bob as i think that yours is the best estate I've seen including the colour but I'm sure you'll have it back to looking great soon :y.
How your mate says he didn't know he hit it is a bit of a tall one if you ask me unless as you say he was one over the nine in which case it could have been a lot worse :o.
-
bit of luck it was on CCTV and someone you know, i have hit things in the Omega ::) - You never feel it, so not surprised he did not feel the impact in a van
-
I hope it gets well repaired - it is a nice car :(
-
You're so lucky you found out who did it - 99 times out of 100 this would be impossible :y :y
Glad it's being sorted, it's a fantastic looking car
-
Hi Bob. That's a new wing without question if it's to be done properly, you could fill it but it'd never be right & why should you? Regarding the body mods as you've declared them i believe as already said the car has to be put back as it was including aftermarket parts. Beware of high quotes for scourcing & painting/fitting expensive Irmscher parts. Most ins. cos. will only accept quotes from main dealers or pricey spray shops as it's cheaper for them to pay you out on a financial write off. The spoiler looks repairable.
Wish you were nearer mate, we could sort this. :y
-
Thank god for cctv :y :y
-
was praying it wasn't the body kit when i saw the title. Lmf seem to be the only source for new irmscher b kit left for the Omega, and they are often out of stock. But would seem repairable from the pics.
Hope it gets sorted.
-
Thanks everyone for the kind words of support. :y
Courtesy car has now been arranged as soon as the car goes in for repair so won't be without wheels.
Will update as and when car is sorted. :y
-
Thats not bad
should come out with a little T-cut :y

He's lucky too you new him and all has gone through nicely as he could have got done if police involved somat like 5pts for not reporting accident and 6pts for leaving scene or something like that not realising he had done it done wash !

Yep he is pretty lucky. I had already reported it to the police on Saturday when I picked my car up. Went back on Sunday and told them that the culprit had made contact and all was being sorted out through his insurance. They seemed happy with that and binned the report.

Bad news Bob, sorry to hear about the damage :-X..know how you feel, still have to put mine in for the re-spray, all been agreed by insurance, will probabaly get it put in for next week :y...you should be OK with the bumper :y......Mr Bob.Big.Dent ;D ;D

Well, things are under way. Car being picked up by repair centre today and courtesy car being delivered.......a brand new 3 series Beemer. So far so good. :y
-
A brand new BMW 3 series :o :o
I'm pretty impressed, they normally palm you off with an utterly pathetic excuse for a car, Vauxhall Agila or the likes. Even though some insurance policies state like for like, some still think they can get away with giving you a 1.6 Focus to replace a much larger car.

Agreed, but I think as the claim is being made on the 3rd party's insurance they sort you out like for like or something decent. I'm sure if the claim was being made on our own insurance I would have ended up with something like a Corsa. ::)

I'll be contacted by the repair centre as soon as the damage has been assessed but I would hardly think it would be written off for a dented wing and scraped bumper. :o
