Whats involved in fitting them?
I notice my washer bottle has the loom for the jets, is it likey to have a water feed too? Or will i need a replacement bottle?
Is it just plug and play with the jets?
Are they easy to fit? Looks like i will need to drill the bumper :'(

they only work when lights are on on mine. So in winter the bottle emptys quicker than you would beleive. Not worth the bother imho.
Not sure if possible with out hid wiring or whatever. Beyond me that one. Although i would guess it wouldnt take much t o wire the two pumps to fire together, but then i know bog all about electrics.

i am going to be doing a lot of night driving soon, and plan on fitting HID's

Ah, in that case will need them. And for ledgal reason you will need the leveling sensors on each pass side suspension arm? Heaven forbid anyone should flout the law on that one.
Insurance could be an issue if you have a prang, should they find any irregularitys, they will jump at the chance not to say out, if not notified or up to spec. But you dont need of to tell you that....

I don't agree, I have them fitted in the Rover and the Wheesel and had them in the Mazda and they're a big improvement over the standard halogen bulbs

Already got Philips bison 50+ in there, could give them a go I guess.

Grey area - when your car goes for an MOT and has a good, MOT standard beam pattern, it HAS to pass, therefore making it road legal.
It's "suggested" by the DoT (or some other mob), that HID lights should be fitted with washers and a levelling system, but, IIRC, not actually law yet........as far as retro-fitting them goes.
This is to do with cars fitted with reflective type headlights.
However, on projective lights the dip beam on Omega is projective), this all changes as the burner (bulb) is not seen directly, merely the light reflected from it is.
So that's why the main beam on Omega is halogen powered, as that is reflective.
This was all put up on www.clubcalibra.com a while back, and in conclusion - my old Calibra would have been "more legal" with retro-fit HIDs, whereas my Carlton would be "less legal" with them.
They work fine as dip, main and spotlamps on my Carlton, I have to say. :y
As far as insurance, I think that if the car passes an MOT with them, then all should be well, as the car is roadworthy in the opinion of a representative of our wonderful government - i.e. an MOT tester.
Proving they were fitted at the time of the test is another matter, though. :-/

i am not too concerned with the legal aspects, the CDX has them as standard, so with CD it could have just been an option extra.
I might fit just the HID's and see how good they are without washers

Our local police have had VOSA in checking all the boy racers cars out and handed out loads of prohibition notices for the illegal HID Kits they basically made the people re mot there car minus the dodgy HID kits
They are potentially dangerous too a Xenon omega has thicker guage H/L wiring to cope with the extra current consumed by the ballasts
It is a legal requirement to have S/L & Headlamp washers its laid down in law search the forum someone posted a .gov link sometime ago

That's very true - ideally needs a seperate, fused wiring loom made up using better cabling and a relay.

Aah, at the time I read the info I had, it was a couple of years ago now - seems it's changed from a 'suggestion' to a 'must-do' then!
