Hi.
I'm in the process of converting my Facelift headlamp chrome to black - eurolook.
I've managed to get all the chrome plating off, preped the plastic correctly, but after having put x3 coats of black satin paint on them, part of the paint has gone funny, in what I think is called bloomed - best way I can explain is like when you breath on glass or a mirror and it goes slightly foggy looking for a few seconds, only with me the paint has stayed looking foggy.
Can anyone help with where I'm going / gone wrong, and if I can rescue the painting of them without going and having to strip all the paint off and starting from scratch ?. As it took me ages to take right back to the original plastic and prep it right :-/
Would appreciate any help / advice please.

what i would try is put another coat on top but first make sure the air/weather isnt damp, then warm up the plastic with a hair dryer & get the paint on with it warm, as soon as the paint is on run the hair dryer over it again, oh & keep the paint can in doors overnight so that isnt cold, if that makes sense ;) :y :y

Thanks alf, I'll try that. Hopefully it'll work, as if does I can save the project.
Cheers.

Be interesting to see how this looks by the way - post some pictures when you're done :y

a good compounding such as farecla g7 can sometimes remove blooming if its not to deep!! depends how much paint you have on there tho, caused by damp or cold conditions!!! :y

Might try something like that if the other idea doesn't work - Thanks for that tip.

What about a light hand-flat, then a coat of clear laquer?

Sounds like you havent mopped it with g3 mate, you do this by flatting the painted article with 1500 wet and dry, then cut it in with g3 compound. You should always finish any paintwork by doing this. :y

I did this mod on my mig, i might have just been lucky.
I gave it a light rub over with 1000 ply, and sprayed away.
Still looking as i sprayed it yesterday, even though i did it about 6 months ago.
