Title: Bargain Omega
Post by: deviator on 22 October 2009, 13:31:10

Take a look!

It was up at 895, he stuck the price up to 1295 as he's had over 50 calls. Still works out cheap to me.

If I was closer to barry, it would be on my drive now.

According to the VOSA site the mileage is right, so if it's been toyied with, it's been done every year. Apparently it was a little old dear who owned it.

I went to see one at £2500 with an apparent 43k miles on near Bewdley, apparently the father-in-laws car who had apparently died.

Strange how the brake pedal rubber was bald, the leather steering wheel worn through, the interior door handles sanded down, the gearknob shiny as a cue ball and the books were all lost when he died.....apparently
They sold it for £2000 though...

I saw that ad but was cynical about the MV6/Elite mix up-but could be a real deal if kosher.
When buying a car, the seller is as important as the car.....I should know after buying 87!!  :P

Its an illness...

Thing is though, if you buy well off the right person, sort the car 100%, get the VOSA MOT check done to add to FSH, present it well and advertise it right, it IS possible to do 30,000 per year FREE

Generally I buy something, run it for a few months then sell it for £400-700 profit-this pays for fuel and insurance  ;D ;D

I think the Omega may be a keeper though :y

Saying that though-it is a faff collecting the car and going through it with my obsessional tendencies....

My poor wife has driven 23 cars since passing her test 2 years ago  :P

I do like my bizarre cars though-best ones to make money on.

Our other one at present is a Perodua Kelisa (prod your wha?) which I flew to Scotland to collect and drive home-bargain even including the flight.  Doing the sales ad now-had it three months...!!  Lovely little thing  ::)

He's the only one with an ounce of sense

It drives like it is the missing Mini between old and new.  Daihatsu tech, 100% reliable, quiet, 55++mpg and wonderfully responsive and full of feel.

I will miss it, but we need some cash out.
Will prob buy an old fartknocker for now; have robbed the bank for the Omega!!   :D

lol something small and nimble again then

Daft thing is that the little cheap stuff is more expensive than quality stuff-people are obsessed by tax band and mpg.

My 2004 04 Kelisa is absolutely mint in special order Purple Mica with FSH and 15k miles-only cost £5500 new, but will still fetch £2350-odd now, 5 years on.  Not much depreciation then...

Omega 20+k new......

very valid point, so another omega then perhaps

Yeah-nice and safe and my wife only does 5k miles pa.

Would like a mintish, miley simple as poss facelift car for about £500....if we get the Kelisa gone.

Comments about the Omega after driving the Kelisa:
It needs a foghorn not foglights, a mooring not a parking space and someone elses fuel card!!!

They say you know you're getting overweight when your clothes get tight.  My CAR was getting tight.... ;D

.........I should know after buying 87!!  :P

I've been driving for 30 years & in all that time was without a car for a couple of months when I wrote one off about 25 yrs ago. But I've had a .....
MKIII Cortina,
Cavalier Coupe,
Opel Manta coupe,
MK II Carlton 2.2 (like this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320434739372&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m38.l1313%26_nkw%3D320434739372%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1)
12v Senator,
24 Senator &
I currently own both a crappy Astra diesel &
my Omega.
That makes it that I'm on car 7 & 8

Back on topic ....... on my current milage on my Omega, I would have only put a similar milage on it had it been mine for all that time.  ;)  ;)  ;) Not all Omegas spend all their lives on a motorway clocking up intergalactic milage - just most.  ;)  ;) :y

I had a Mk2 Carlton. 1985/B 1.8GL in an interesting burnt orange colour. 130,000 miles and it was spotless. Most comfortable car I have ever had, the seats were like armchairs.

Sold it to a taxi driver who took it up to 300,000 miles with no real problems. Great cars!!!!!!!
