Title: New MV6 Project
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 29 May 2009, 08:50:21
Maria's going to kill me, but I really couldn't resist this.

Following sucesfull negotiation I'm shortly taking ownership of Baz MV6's 3.0 Facelift Estate.

Known problems are

1) Coolant leak - quite a significant one. Diagnosed by garage as nearside head gasket. Would have been sceptical of the diagnosis - however they are a trusted outfit.

2) Lamnda issue - open circuit codes logged for both lamda's at 70mph+

The first issue will be no problem - the second maybe a bit more of a challenge...

Don't joke - I am hoping this will be the case!!

If it's the same paint code, I'll be having the rear offside door off my current Elite, for this one!

Sounds a good project.

Might be a daft question but how do you know there is an open Lamdna cct at 70mph plus?

I get a similar lambda fault with mine on 246 bank but the car has just sailed through the emissions test and live data shows lambdas working as they should.
Maybe the cables are routed a little bit too close to the exhaust and are being affected by heat.
I notice my EML comes on occasionally when cruising around 80 ish but slowing to 70 seems to take the light off.

Sad to see her driven away - but good to know she's gone to a good home...   :y

All the best James - hope she gives you many happy miles of motoring.

Baz.

Couple of niggles that need sorting around the engine - coolant loss and lamda abnormalities, but will make a decent car when done

You have brought a very old thread up here, worth looking at the date on the last post before yours  ;)
