A few weeks ago before i demoted myself to a newbie i posted that i'd chased a Scooby out of a roundabout. He pulled away initially (although not as quick as i'd have thought) & by 90/100...ish he was'nt pulling away any more & looking in his mirror alot! I understand this is due to the nature of both cars, Scooby low down bursts of power & Migs are long legged.
Last weekend however i was pottering around the lincolnshire fens in no rush until the VW caravelle on my tail annoyed me. I up the pace a tad & he stayed with me, 90+ on the twisties, slowed down for cars in front, waited for a gap & gunned it. I pulled away from him but not by alot, i'd have had to gone into silly mode to lose him.
Question is how much quicker is a scooby than a tdi caravelle? :o

Had a similar sort of thing myself with an Impressa turbo thing, I expected to get left for dead but didn't, the burst where I assume the turbo kicks in he pulled away slightly but then I was right up behind him again (braking distance away obviously ::))
My Brother in Law has one with 300 odd bhp which pulls like mad. A mate of mine had one that from a standing start to 100 was just unbelieveable but apparently only did 115 top speed as it was imported I think he said.
Alot depends on too how big your balls are too I suppose....

And the Scooby driver has to keep pulling over every 7500 miles for a service.....

For acceleration you need a motorbike :y
Suzuki B120 should do it ;D ;D ;D
And before I get some smart alec saying a Bugati whatever it is faster you aint got that sort of money ;D ;D ;D ;D

I think your estimation of aceleration times is a good 10 years on the optimistic side DLK ;D ;D ;D

I have had various big bikes and they are quick if once rolling and if enough traction off the line, but car wise any stock Omega will be left for dead by the latest Evo and Scooby.
I won the Auto Express knowledge/quiz prize which was road testing the EvoX, New STi and S3 over a few days around the Elan valley-any of these would have been a distant memory to the Omega driver!!
S3 left me cold, STi full of feel but basic, EvoX was more like a plane with road wheels-utterly fabulous.
I think its fair to say there are few home grown Scooby nasties out there with poor modifications and huge lag though.
The EvoX made the 3.2 Omega look frugal though-we were getting 11.6mpg :o
Still rather have the Skoda Superb 170TDI though :y

Fair go matey i've never driven a scooby or an Evo (which i believe to be better) but this one was looking in his mirror alot. I'm not up on Jap power but have had a play in Mitsubishi GTO (i think) 3.0 twin turbo manual & have to admit my MV6 would'nt touch it. Just dabbing the throttle was like the Mig @4500rpm & when it really took off it was breathtaking, vert flat handling, no rool or lean but i imagine if it let go it'd do so with no warning, you'd have to know the car & be ready.
Daz i remember the B120 suzi, never had one but i had an SB200 once if you remember them!!!! ::)

I don't imagine that there are any Omegas still in service with the police now but the 'documentaries' showing unmarked police Omegas pulling over Scoobies are being repeated over & over on Dave.
That might be the main reason why the Scoobies won't crack a ton.

The Metropolitan police still have a few Omega's right from 2001 'Y' TO 2003 '53', and TVP still have a few, even a few unmarked one's. No idea about other forces though.

just because a car has lots of bhp doesnt mean its fast.

most pretty much all japcrap
has absolutely no torque what so ever. :P

a friend of mine has one and he is pushing 450bhp now that thing is quick.

I am thinking about my mate's Dax Rush. 270BHP cossie engine in a RWD bathtub. That gave the sports bikes something to ponder. ;D

Wouldent that kind of power in a ford pull the body from the chassis. :-/ ;D ;D.Get the feeling i hate fords. :)
