Just had the bloke who bought me up on the phone ( as we all know Hotel 21 is my real Dad ;)) saying that he got in his MGF wiggled the gearstick before starting it to make sure it was out of gear, heard a clunk, now no gears can be selected :( does this sound like a gear linkage to anyone, or is this a common problem with these cars as it looks like I know who will be underneath it ;D

There are 2 gear linkage cables on the MGF's, lower ones are very prone to snapping underneath the selector. Easy to change though :y

Bet they are going to be expensive though >:( any ideas where the best place to get them from?
Cheers for that Lee I will be having a gander as soon as I get a minute :y

It'll either be the clip that's broken or the cable fraying and breaking. THIS (http://www.mgfcar.de/gear_select/index.htm) may be of help ;)
Cables are notoriously hard to get hold of due to the stock problems that the former Over group have. Either repair as in the link or 2nd hand might be easier :y

You could try a bloke called Andrew at Barbers in Northwich he's the parts bloke and has managed to get me all the parts I have needed for my Rover and the daughters MG ZR or you could try Rimmer Bros, they're quite good as well youth ;)
