around 10%

I wouldn't have thought more than a horsepower or two. It's not shifting a lot of heat.

around 10%
:o
10% of 218BHP?
There's nowhere for that amount of energy to go. remember all energy that is taken by the air con compressor, in addition to the heat energy that's extracted from the car, must be dissipated in the condenser (and they don't run that hot!).

I stand corrected, not sure where did i read that, or was it 10% reduction in mpg :-/

A 10% reduction in MPG sounds about right for town driving, although our old V6 Estate still used to get as near as damnit the claimed 32MPG on motorways with the cruise set around the 65mph mark with the climate switched on.
The one thing that is very noticeable with climate switched on is the performance difference when pulling off the line.
It's not enough of an impact to worry about, but noticeable nonetheless.

Tunnie nowhere near 10%.
That would be around 15 kw/h on 3.2 and 10.5 on 2.2, you could heat up the entire building with that ;D
It is probably somewhere between 2 to 3 kw/h or 4 to 5 HP.
