is anyone out there havin' as much fun in the snow as i am ::) ;D ;D.
i almost slide into a tractor who was pulling a 4x4 out of his field then the snow plough got stuck on a hill (the look on his face when i passed him was great) but the top dog was the police 4x4 couldn't get out of the street where i live so i had to tow it....hahaha ;D ;D ;D (was going to put it in the ditch but felt sorry for them....not)

You could not have been driving an Omega then, i have enough trouble just getting moving in the morning, let along pulling anything
-
Yes this cold snap has been quite fun. Car has not missed a beat, even had to push a subaru impreza along this morning.
Oh yes and I finally put a jumper on yesterday.
-
well only got my modest mig and with chunky tyres it does what it says on the tin ::) ::) ::)

You can't be doing it right then.... I've got no problems whatsoever ;) ;)

I do have the optional driver involment pack, and have a habbit of dumping the clutch ;D ::)

Like the bloke in a Polo/Lupo GTi in Makro car park today... 1st gear and full throttle :o :o :o Couldn't understand why he wasn't moving :-X :-X ;D ;D
I just jumped in, switched off the TC and pulled away, with a little power sliding for good measure ::) ::) ::)

ahhhh crap, its just dumped a load of snow here (Osterley, London) :'(
-
Hey Tunnie,
Do you work for BSB?
-
Just seen an Omega on the local news sitting wheel spinning slowly sideways into the verge while a huge que of people sat patiently behind him/her, think it was oxfordshire somewhere. Seems to have snowed more than they predicted here in the south.
I agree with Tunnie though - Omegas are not that great in the snow, like most BMW's :)
-
I agree with Belldar and Tunnie, my Omega just like my 2.2CDX manual from years ago is poo in this weather. Couldn't get into my street, had to get neigbours to give me a shove. Everything else except an Almera was trundling past :-[
-
There's nothing wrong with the Omega in the snow, its all down to preperation.
-
I'll agree to differ. I've owned 30 cars over 34 years and by far both my Omegas have had the least traction. Great handling car under normal conditions but definitely the worst to date on compacted snow.
-
traction is going to depend on how well the tyres "bite" into the snow, which will be a function of tyre pattern and how much weight you got in the back.
Having a few extra lbs of LPG tank in the back will help :y :y :y

Must admit I'm not very impressed with my Omega
in the ice and snow. My ancient Merc 190 Diesel
is far better; it scuttles around like a compact bulldog.
The Omega on the other hand, well, I'm not sure if
I'd liken it to driving a pendulum or an inebriated
giraffe. ;D
The ABS on the Merc is there straight away, where as
on the Omega it seems to scratch it's nose and have
a little think before it decides to begrudgingly do
anything.
My drive is on a slight slope and I usually like to back
the Omega up it to make it easier to drive out into
any traffic. No chance! It will only go up forwards
whilst the Merc whizzes up and down into its garage
anyway you like.
Singularly unimpressed I'm afraid. :(
-
Two things determine how well a car does on snow and ice, the tyres and the driver.
I have no problems with mine, but then I have good tyres and and almost 50 years of driving on all terrains in all sorts of vehicles. ;D

My MV6 made the corner on the ice yesterday, unlike the car behind and the car in front. Opps.
I have big fat tyres on, so far from ideal, but it still behaves when I want it to.
Chuck some junk in boot, have good quality tyres, let 2 or 3 psi out, and drive smoothly. Omega is fine :)
