Me too Mick, I really enjoy reading all the chat, but it is sometimes like a foreign language ::)

Not sure prefacelift cdx had hids...
have you got head light washers?
can you look into one....and not have your retina burned out?
have you got a 0-3 adjustment on the headlight switch, or a cut out with no adjustment?

My facelift CDX had HIDs, very nice touch with bright blueish/purplish hue. Sadly I lost it together with other creature comforts such as the sunroof, heated front seats, leather, and CD changer when I 'upgraded' to the Merc... :(
-
OK guys, I now know that I have non-HIDS, and have been recommended to fit nightbreakers or X-tremes, however, read this review of X-tremes on Amazon:
".....visibility on dip was 80% worse than with standard bulbs, so bad in fact that standard bulbs were refitted restoring visibility. Main beam was no better than standard and had a distinctly washed out appearance. Don't waste your money, they're rubbish." This was on a Merc. Any comments? :-?

he did not fit them right, or it was his sh!t merc, nightbreakers are excellent :y

What do I buy now, just been reading this forum http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?s=d699210abb8de4f4e1dbd6351410f932&t=17905567&page=4 for reviews of NB's, and as you can read, they appear to have a high failure rate in various cars. ::) ::) ::)

With incandescent lamps there is a trade off between efficiency and lamp life.
A hotter filament gives a brighter/more efficient light but shortens the life.
The best manufacturers manage to get a good combination of life and light output but they are still struggling with the laws of physics.

Mine is a 99 CDX TD and I have nightbreakers, best thing I ever bought for it :y

I fitted them to my 96 cdx and have had no problems with them so far and they are a vast improvement on what was in from vauxhall
