Title: How do you value a reg plate?

Mine is T44LUN
My husbands name was ALUN so it is obvious to see why I kept it and why he bought it.

Post by: Amigo on 21 January 2010, 19:41:48: I've found some sites offer more for your plate than the sale price of similar plates on said site ie S1 OOF or S2 OOF so there must be a catch. Also a plate with a name is limited in value to those of that name. In all honesty i would'nt think it was worth alot..sorry.
I bought L9 MUF for £160 plus transfer fees if that helps. Otherwise lookj on sites for plates with one or two digits different. Guy. :y

6 grand for a plate!!! Not my cup of tea anyway, but still....6k? More money than sense. IMO :-?

2 years ago I paid £200 for a plate that the old lady liked, it's now worth £8,200 apparently.

PS I sold the plate 1721 JW in 1972 for £15. Does anyone on here own it now?? :D :D :D

Post by: spacekid2009 on 21 January 2010, 22:52:07: No Cam, i'm a very sensible person, so the comment more money than sense is a bit on the offensive side, but when you think that i paid almost 6k for it 10 years ago, and the last time someone tried to buy it from me offered me nearly £20k, i'd have to say it was a good buy, but as it goes, i've always promised it to my son, so it will never be for sale.

My old man treated himself to GLH 44 (or was it 44 GLH) recently for a tidy 4 figure sum but he's worked hard for it and I don't blame him. Put it on his brand new Altea, which was nearly written off about 3 months later :o :o

Old mans a farmer and sees a lot in old barns on cars not even running :y

The reason being is that even the luckiest of us are driving 6 yr old Omegas.....so a private plate makes sense as a way to hide the fact that our beautiful shiny Mig is actually quite old.......
